Wow, this is happening so fast. I just saw my MD who scheduled my excision surgery for this Tuesday. I've had a lap before (Jan 2007), but I wasn't anticpating another surgery for at least a few weeks... GAH! I don't know why, but I am nervous again. The one endometrioma got a bit bigger, but he saw three other possible ones on the same ovary and three others on the left... all within one month. My doc agreed, no Lupron this time... I can't subject my body to that again.
OK, I just had to get that out. Hopefully this will hold off any more endo for a bit longer than before. I don't want to be too accustomed to the OR.

Tomorrow is the big day! I'm looking forward to getting some relief. The only bad thing that happened is that my hubby threw out his back this weekend and can't really move. He's desperately trying to make it with me tomorrow, but it may not be possible. I'm always a person to get nervous, so not having anyone by my side before I get in and when I get out is making me more nervous. I really don't want to be dropped off and picked up... my mom is too far to come down to stay with me. My stomach is all twisted with nerves. I don't want to do this alone. I know it's not that big of a deal, especially since I did this last year, but a friendly face is nice to calm the nerves.

it went well- as well as a surgery could go i suppose! mostly, I'm just glad its over with, and that they found something so that it was all worth it! they found endo under the back of my uterus and on my left side, there was scar tissue by my left ovary, and my intestine was stuck in places from endo and scar tissue, so all in all, i definately had a justified reason for being in pain!
how did yours go? was this your second lap? or more? this was my FOURTH! ugh. that must have been painful, with the endometriomas. i've never had one before, plain 'ol endo is good enough for me!

Mine went well, thanks for asking! I'm finally coming around to feeling like myself today. It was my second lap; I hope that I don't catch up to you anytime soon. Although I'm sad to hear that your endo was back, it's good to know what was causing your pain and hopefully you can get some relief for a while.
I'm not sure how much the endometriomas contribute to any additional pain; I had them last time as well, so I can't compare. I'm sure it's on par with having your intestines fused; I can't imagine that being any fun! I can't really remember what the MD said he found. My husband was next door in the ER during my surgery trying to get some relief for his back. Thankfully my mother-in-law was there, but she was with him when the MD was out, so I'll have to wait two weeks to see what was really there and removed other than the endometriomas. I think I remember him saying he took care of some adhesions, but it's all a bit fuzzy.
I'm shocked to see how well everyone does with these laps in terms of recovery... my MD was like, sure you can drive tomorrow... what, drive? are you kidding me, I was flat on my back due to the gas pain in my shoulder. I still don't think I can drive yet. He said I should just be able to manage the pain afterwards with Aleve/Ibuprofen... yeah right! I was on percocet and talecen for two days... cudos to those who can bounce back so fast, it just doesn't work that way for me. However, I did cut out the pain meds (narcotics) yesterday, so I'm getting by with just Aleve every 6 hours. I still can't sit for long periods of time, but at least my head is clear. Have a great weekend!

haha i know, it seems like just because this is an outpatient surgery, it seems like a piece of cake! umm, yeah right! I've been on ultram, tylenol with codine, and darvocet, but I'm starting to feel a bit better now, so hopefully the codine can go soon! it never ceases to amaze me, though, that considering women with endometriosis JUST had fairly major surgery, we all feel soo much better afterwards! a true testiment to how bad we felt in the first place...huh?
here's to our continued recovery!

ya, but I think it ended up being a good thing because since I hadn't eaten in so long, I didn't get sick at all, which is a plus!

yeah i agree! although this time, i have been so much more nauseous than i've ever been. even right after the surgery, which i've never really been, i'm pretty lucky. but the continued nausea kind of worries me. it's been almost a week- i'm contributing it to that they found endo on my intestines, and that they are probably sensititive because they lasered them! makes sense, but i wish i weren't so nauseous!
