So I was suppose to have my second lap nov 10th and i had my first one jan 23 of the same year. yah not too far apart eh. Well i got everything set I got all my work from school for a week, got the two weeks off work to recover and was all set but unfortunately it didnt go. So i didn;t eat past 11 like your suppose to and went into the hospital for noon the next day. An hour after we got there i got my blood pressure done and temperature and all that stuff they put me in a bed, changed into a gown and started my iv. I waited until 5 that night. At my hospital a lap is out patient surgery so you should be out that day. out patient closes at 8 and they wont take surgeries past 5 so all that work and planning so i could just get sent home hungry as ever. my doc. wants to reschedule and i know it wasn't her fault she had complications with the one be4 me then had to go deliver a baby b.c. she was the only OBGYN available and then had a patient through emerg needing emergency surgery but i'm in my last year of highschool with hard courses so it's unbelievably hard to figure out a good time. I know everyone says your health comes first but endo is always going to be there and this is my time to get great grades so i can get into the colleges i want. I have a hard time facing surgery. I get so nervous and i wear myself out just thinking about it the weeks before. I was okay with my first one probably because i didn;t know how crappy i would feel after but now that i know i don't want to go through with it. It took me from 9 in the morning until 7 till they thought i could be discharged and it was only because i threw a fit till they let me leave. If i'm going to have another one which it seems i will be i need some advice to get myself through it

Wow, that's terrible. I would have been so upset if that happened to me! I know when I scheduled my surgery that there was no one else scheduled for that day yet so I was automatically the first one, maybe that's what you should consider. Sometimes I wish gynecologists and obstetricians were two different things so that those of us who just want gynecologic care didn't have to wait in line behind women who are ahving babies. It's teh only type of doctor where you could go in for a 15-minute appointment and find yourself in the waiting room for two hours because your doctor had to perform a c-section. I know there's nothing we cna do about that but I share your frustration with this problem!

Man. That really bites! I'm sorry that happened to you! One idea might actually be to have the lap done by a reproductive endocrinologist--Yes, I know you don't want a baby right now, but a lot of them specialize in endo, and you wouldn't have to worry about the RE running off to deliver a baby--RE's only deal w/ hormones, endo, and other gynecologic pathologies.

Kaitlyn, That really is terrible. I was the only surgery scheduled for that morning and so I could never have had that problem... Are you kidding? Hello! I paid for it and I had to plan this like four months in advance and get leave from work and everything, so....
I hope next time you get to see a specialist so this can't happen to you. Good luck with those exams and your rescheduling. We know you can do well! In the mean time, try to watch what you are eating (lots of raw veggies, water, fresh green juices.. cut out the sugar, wheat...etc.) and spend some time meditating... early morning is good...
Keep in touch.

I would try to schedule mine on it's own but the hospital where I live is booked solid for operating room time so when my doc does schedule it she gets it for the day and does about five in that day. It;s stupid but she did say if i rebook she will schedule me for the first thing in the morning. Thank goodness cuz i only weigh just over 100lbs and if i go to long without eating i get dizzy and really weak. I live in Canada so I dont have to pay for my health care and almost all of the meds are covered under my parents plan until i'm finished school so it's nice that way. but the city i live in is only about 40 000 ppl so there aren;t alot of options for doctors.

My dr doesn't deliver babies on the day he's doing surgery, one of the on call drs do that. sucks for the person having their baby and not getting their doctor but it makes for a much better schedule when they have surgery days and thats what they do is scheduled surgeries.

Yeah I guess she was the only one available and it was a bit of an emergency so she didn't get an option although she was good and made time to come and apologize to me. She really wanted to get my surgery done for me but it must have happened for a reason and after all she had done that day i didn't want a tired doctor working on me lol. I don't know if i am even going to do the surgery before i go off to college. It was only January I had my first one and getting diagnosed is a little tramatic i think i'd rather focus more on my own ways of keepin the pain away

The same thing kind of happened to me in Feb. I was due to go in but was told to phone on the morning of my op to check it was still going ahead, did that at about 6 am told it was all fine. Got to the hospital at about 7.30 only to be told they had no beds for me and I had been taken off the surgery rota! Well I just burst into tears, anyway cut a long story short the ward sister took pity on me and managed to get me a bed and the op went ahead, although in hindsight I think it may have been a bad idea as my new surgon thinks they may not have been as careful and they should have been because they were rushed and transfered endo about my insides. So hopefully cancelling your op instead of doing it whilst she was tired was a blessing in a huge disguise!

Yeah i really hope it was seeing how my first one was only in jan of this year i wasn;t ready emotionally to deal with it all over again and maybe with my age only bein 17 i find surgery to be a really big deal even tho it's day surgery.

Surgery is a big deal no matter what your age is, I find it emotionally and physically draining and I'm quite sure were not the only ones.

Amen to that! Kaitlyn, keep up with the diet approach and see where that gets you. You also have to be careful because the first lap probably didn't go that well if they had to be doing it again so quickly. Make sure you check out all the surgeons in Canada to know who is the best for you. What is your exercise regime like? Yoga and pilates are good when done with qualified instructors.... Keep us posted on how you are doing.

The only reason why we are redoing it is b.c. the endo is close to my bowels they think. I had blood in my stool for a bit but it was a very stressful time cuz i lost my grandpa. I haven't had it bak since. About exercise ... I don't not because i dont want to but i'm usually physically exhausted when i do have time to. I go to school and work at night, my work can get physically demanding as i'm always walking here and there or lifting huge bags of dog food off a skid since i work at a pet store. I try to go for a walk in the trails outside of the city once a week it's usually a few miles but other then that nothing. I hope sooner or later i can find the time to. Is it trye that strenous exercise like runing and many sports can increase the pain b,c, i;ve found that.
