I had an ablation. It gave me six months of less bleeding but eventually I was back to flooding and cramping. It did not less the cramping by much since my endo was so extensive. I would highly suggest you check out Endometrial ablation website. They are super nice and have lots of what's good/bad about it!! endometrialablationboard.yuku.com/ I joined to get more information. I do have to say it hurt like bloody hell, like a real bad period but they do it under general anesthetic so that's good. If they say they can do it in an office... RUN!

I had uterine ablations regularly, when I was on birth control pills, because they made me bleed so much. It was part of my regular management of juggling the damn pill, my reactions to it, and the endo pain. I think I had them about annually, a little less, but very frequently.

Rust: are you sure you didn't have D&C's? Because once you have an ablation you can no longer get pregnant without extreme danger to yourself. The lining of the uterus is burned out and it never fully comes back. There is no where for the baby to implant so it implants into the muscle instead. This causes severe complications for mom and baby and can result in the death of both. Anyone thinking about an Endometrial ablation (not a Dialation and curretage, which is where they remove any buildup, post miscarriage, retained pieces of placenta after a birth, etc. ie. D&C) needs to know that an endometrial ablation is something done only if you are no longer trying to have children. There are a number of horrible stories of people who had it done who didn't realize that it was permanent.

no idea. It was called "uterine ablation" and described as "scraping away the mess", so that doesn't really answer one way or the other, does it? Thanks for the information though, Karla. I appreciate it.
