About 11 years ago (age 18), I had a large endometrioma removed from my left ovary (5X9 cm) through laparoscopy and I was released the same day. Recovery time was minimal and I was able to resume typical activities within the next few days. I hope that yours is able to go as smoothly! I would recommend that you ask your MD what are the chances the cyst could be removed through laparoscopy (small incision) vs laparotomy (large incision) and hopefully they will complete the surgery soon due to the size!
During my surgery, the doctors discovered my endometriosis. Now, 11 years later, I am scheduled for another laparoscopy b/c I continue to experience chronic pain despite several trials with Lupron therapy. My husband and I hope to start a family soon and am hopeful that surgery may help clear some things up to protect fertility and reduce my pain.
Has anyone out there had the more advanced laparoscopy to remove lesions?? This website was able to help me develop some good questions for my doctor during my pre-op consult and I would also appreciate any other feedback re: the procedure & questions for my MD. Also, any advice re: pain management would also be helpful. Thanks!!!

FYI-My aunt had 1 ovary and 3/4 of her other ovary completely removed and still managed to get pregnant. I don't know if are concerned with this at the moment, but thought it might be of interest to you.

Dixie, Perhaps there are no DRUGS but there are plenty of other things. You are better off not taking drugs anyway. Go to powersurge.com and read for tips there. I used concentrated soybars, Rivival brand sold there and that did it. Later I switch to natural estrogen and progesterone creams. I have also heard of black cohash working and many many other things. You don't need to suffer. www.power-surge.com/news.htm

So i went to my doc last week and talked to her about getting a hyster. So i had the ultrasound today and they found a 2 inch cyst on my right ovary(the right ovary is completly block too-previous test). Anywho, it is also pushing on my bladder. I am afraid that it is attached to my bladder. The tech said that the cyst is filled with blood,so that makes it my endo ? Anyway, what is your experience with this ?

I also had 1 very large blood-filled cyst on my left ovary that was pusing up against my uterus. They couldn't be for sure it was endo. until they did a laparascoy, but they then confirmed it was endo. Have you had a lot of pain with it so far? I chose to have surgery so that the episodes of horrible pain I had would go away. Anyway, the pictures they took while in there were so surprising! I could not believe how much endo. was covering everything and making everything stick to each other. It sounds like your cyst is a lot smaller than mine was though, but if it's causing you pain and really attached to your bladder, I might look into having something done for it.

I too suffer from endometromia's in both my ovaries. 2cm isn't really large, my doctors always told me anything under 3cm was considered functional and could still shrink by birth control. My first lap, i had a 5 cm cyst and my left ovary was attached to my abdomen, couldnt walk, couldnt stand, couldnt laugh it was the worst pain ever! If your doc is willing to do a lap, and your in a ton of pain. I say go for it.
