Hi my name is Liz,
I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2012, after experiencing severe abdominal pain off and on for about a year and a half. All the U/S showed, what my Gyn thought, was a cyst on my left ovary. It wasn't until I decided to have a tubal ligation that she decided to do the surg/lap. I was 41 at the time and she never even mentioned endometriosis as the cause. When she went in she discovered the endometriosis and removed my left ovary and both of my Fallopian tubes, plus she ablated some of the other visible endometrial tissue. Since the time of the surgery in 2012 I still continue to have very painful periods, and I now get pelvic discomfort (like cramping) premenstrual. My periods are also closer together. I don't know if this is from age or from the removal of my left ovary and thus changes in my hormones. I current take Celebrex and Norco for the pain. Which is complicated by chronic back pain. The discomfort that I feel exacerbated by back pain has left me feeling frustrated, hopeless at times and just darn angry that I have to deal with this until - what maybe menopause? So, I was looking to others that are going through this as well.
Thanks!

Hello,
I had a tubal ligation on top of my endo surgery, and although my surgery was initially for a cyst, the cyst had burst by the time I got into surgery months later.
I do find that I have to have a very specific diet with a mind to things that cause changes in hormones, no soy, dairy, flax, etc. It helps keep the period pain down. I am sorry you also have chronic back pain, that must make things really uncomfortable. It is awful to be kicked when you are down, so to speak, by having cramps on top of everything. I got my diet suggestions from the suggestions on this board, and by researching foods that increase or decrease estrogen, so that I can avoid them.
