Hi Everyone, long time reader first time poster here
This week I had my 3rd laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, this time with an appendectomy. I'm on day 3 of recovery. This is a surgery I should have done around 10 months ago when the pain started getting bad again, however despite knowing better I always get concerned that it's "in my head" or convince myself that somehow this daily chronic pain will resolve itself. I also had the words of a specialist I saw early in 2015 ringing in my ears "Often women your age who arnt happy in life can become over sensitive to normal bodily sensations and mis interpret them as pain"..... *punch*.
Luckily for me I have an excellent endo specialised gyno surgeon who saw that I was due to see her in February and arranged her schedule to do my lap with just 3 days notice.
My first lap 6 years ago showed stage IV endometriosis covering most of the organs that live in my pelvic region, along with multiple cysts (largest was 7cm) and adhesions. Surgery to remove all the endo took 4-5 hours. Interesting, none of this was visible on any ultrasounds or scans I'd had beforehand.
My second lap was 3 years ago, no endo was found, but one of my ovaries had adhesions and cysts.
So fast forward to Monday this week and I had my 3rd lap. Recovery has been amazingly straightforward with zero travelling gas pains and only paracetamol required for relief. Along with having an inflamed appendix removed and a Mirena inserted, here are the results of my surgery:
Severe bilateral ovariolysis and endometriosis
Both ovaries were adhered to my pelvic wall, with endo on the left ovary and multiple cysts on the right.
Right Fallopian tube hyperaemic.
Dilated veins in uterus
Uterus had a fibroid which was removed
Possible adenomyosis
Uterus was 9cm
I know what to expect with my ovaries, adhesions, and endo, but my surgeon believes that because my uterus is enlarged, has dilated veins, and my tube berg hyperaemic I will likely still continue to have pain.
Does anyone else have these conditions or had these conditions without resorting to have their uterus removed? I'm 36 years old but am not ready to rule out having children just yet. I'm very interested to hear from anyone else in a similar situation.
