Hi everyone!
I have lurked on this message board over the years. I'm 37 and from NYC. My GYN first mentioned Endo or PCOS to me back in 2011--though I had been thinking I had Endo since 2010 because of reading here. But right after that appointment I got pregnant and I didn't think about it again. I had a glorious time not having my period, didn't have it for 9 months after she was born while I was breastfeeding. When my period came back it was lighter and 5 days. But now three years later it is the worst it has ever been--it has been insanely heavy! The last 5 cycles the first 3 days are so heavy I get really faint. I have to change my super plus tampon every 30 minutes to an hour. Forget about a good night's sleep! And it's been longer, 7 days, 10 days, 15 days. Other symptoms I have during my periods are horrible burning pain, pain in my rectum, pain when I urinate. I also have painful ovulation and cramps about a week or two before my period. The pain I am kind of used to because my period has been painful for years--the heavy periods and faintness I am not used to. I feel like I need to work from home during those days.
I went to see a new GYN last week and I am seeing her again tomorrow for an ultrasound. When I told her all my symptoms she mentioned going on birth control, but only if I wasn't trying to get pregnant in the next year. I like her but I'm not sure. I think I should maybe try and get an appointment with the NYC Pelvic Pain office since they specialize in it. I'll wait and see what happens after tomorrow.
I am going gluten free because I noticed when I did a gluten-free challenge over the summer that my cramps and bloating were practically eliminated. I still had some rectal pain but things were much better.
I am dreading my period but we do want to try for a second child within the next year and this also scares me about that.
Thanks for reading!
