Hi Everyone
Firstly I can't believe there are so many ladies out there suffering from this horrible thing.
I am 35 and have endometriosis.
I had a laparoscopy/ablation 12 months ago which was fantastic and felt so much better straight away (I didn't know I had endo before that), in Dec I started to feel a bit sick again so I started acupuncture and herbs which has given me some relief. (My endo was found to be moderate during the lap). A few months after my lap I had appendicitis so had a separate operation to remove my appendix. Which has made me really reluctant to have another lap. It would be 3 operations in 2 years. (Also misdiagnosed with IBS for about 10 years when it was the endo on my bowel)
The last couple of months have been hellish and I have been in denial until today, its definitely back. I've booked back into my gynae/surgeon. I can't get back in until mid August. My specialist suggested putting mirena in during the last lap but I have heard horror stories so didn't. I am now thinking he will probably suggest another lap and whether I should give mirena a go.... any positive stories on mirena?
The pain has been so bad I have goggled about hysterectomies but that doesn't look like a guarantee to stop the pain.
Does it get better once menopause hits ? Do you think its hereditary?
I have done IVF but well before knowing about the Endo. Funnily enough the "Period" pain has been worse since I gave birth which is approx. 4 years ago.
I love my specialist and I think he did a good job with the lap... another question I guess is should I think about switching surgeons?
Does anyone have any minimally invasive treatment ideas?
Any guidance would be really appreciated. I'll be around the boards hopefully able to help with other ladies questions with the experiences I have had to date.
All the best ladies.
