Hi ladies! During a routine ultrasound my dr found a 3 cm endometrioma on my left ovary. She suggested to remove it via laparoscopy and clean the endo. I always was in moderate pain during my period but nothing crazy. My husband and I just started TTC. Do you think I should remove it now or wait for one year to see if we get pregnant before do the surgery. I really don't know what to do. Can I have your input please?

I had a lap about 2 years ago bc I had 2 endometriomas, one on each ovary and they were 8cm each. I was in excruciating pain so had surgery asap after finding out about them. They found severe endo as well and removed all they could. Unfortunately, about 6 months later my husband and I started seeing an infertility specialist bc we've been trying to pregnant and found out the cysts were back during an ultrasound. They were still pretty small so the dr said to just monitor them.
We just moved to houston a few months ago and I decided to make an appt with with Dr. Mangal who is supposed to be the "endo God". He knows pretty much everything about endo and said that if you have endometriomas on your ovaries, they will eat away at your ovaries and eggs! I couldn't believe nobody had ever told me this before!! So I have a lap scheduled with him in a couple weeks to excise the cysts and endo (the dr before only drained the cysts and lasered them) so make sure if you do get the lap the dr does excision of everything to help keep it from coming back or at least keep it at bay for a longer time!!

I was worried about my laproscopy, but in the end, I am very glad I did it, even though I only had one cyst on ultrasound. It was better to know how bad things were inside, and to get them resolved. Thanks to this group, I was totally prepared with pillows and taking time off work, which I think helped my recovery a lot.

Thank you ladies for your response! Deep inside me I know the lap is the right thing to do but to be honest I am petrified. We were so excited to start our family and now I think that it will never happen. From what I read around the web I know I am probably stage 3 or 4 and I am so worried that I would never have a child. I know that it's too early to tell but I already feel so sad and hopeless.

I was worried about getting mine done as well because of possible scarring but I'm really glad I got it done and when he was in there he found multiple cysts on both ovaries that weren't showing up on ultrasounds, so in the long run it's good that I got it done. I think it's important to try all of your options, especially if you're stage 3 or 4 and you want to start a family. Good luck!
