So, I've been messing around with this for months now...trying to get my ducks in a row for when I had surgery. It was recommended to me to line up FMLA coverage and possibly Short Term Disability to cover me while I'm out. I know, everyone says "you shouldn't be out that long - surgery is a breeze!"
why the h*ll are my FMLA benefits protected better thank Ft. Knox?! Why is it so hard to get info?! Heaven forbid they actually help you complete the forms correctly...and why in the actual BLEEP when I call the number the provided me it rings to my work building's security desk?!
im a week post-op and sure, the surgery itself wasn't terrible, but I'm having a difficult time getting along. Why is everyone making me feel like a schmuck for wanting to use benefits I'm entitled to?! Even the doctors office said they may not fill out the Short Term section because really I should be back in a couple days. That's great...perfect world where I heal like the bionic woman, by all means, I'll go back to work in two days.
Now im realizing that I filled my ppwk out wrong - put the wrong dates on it - and I don't know if I totally screwed myself out of being able to take those benefits now or what. And Lord help me if I can find someone who knows what they're actually talking about!
sorry...can you tell it's been a no good very bad day and I feel like hell? I just want help with this stuff. And I just want to poop...and eat normal foods. Is that too much to ask?

I understand completely. My doctor said I should be on my feet again in five or six days, at most. Im so happy I ended up taking three weeks off of work, because come two and a half weeks later, I am just starting to walk upright without the painkillers. Good luck. And remember, your doctors word is not scripture. Fight for your rights. If you were out for three weeks, make sure they will sign something saying so. Good luck girl! Keep fighting.

My gosh, do people really think that in two days one can recover from surgery? Yikes. In Hollywood maybe. It was 2 days before I slept even post-surgery due to the pain. I totally agree, fight for your rights.
