I'll just start by saying sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place..
Hey, I'm Sarah. I'm 19 years old. Up until probably mid last year, I had never had period pain before (probably the odd cramp or so). From then on though, I have been getting worse. I get an excruciating pain across my stomach with (and sometimes without) my period. This pain lasts for a day or so. However, I also have regular abdominal pain which is constant but manageable (compared to the other). It has gotten so bad that the last time I got it, it reduced me to tears. I like to think i have a fairly high pain tolerance. I've been putting off going to the doctor but I now have an appointment in a few days... It is so bad that i am taking up to 6 pain killers at a time with no effect whatsoever. The same goes for hot showers, hot water bottle and I have even tried stretching with no help.
Apart from these pains I also get bloated a lot and back pain. I also get this other weird pain that feels like a needle piercing through my belly button and like there is a string attached and I have to be so careful with how I move because it it feels as though my belly button will tear open..
I have also gained weight. In my last year of school in 2012 I weighed around 45kg (it fluctuated though, up to almost 50kg). I have put on 15kg since then. This is probably unrelated though because I have been told that I was too skinny. Anyways, I thought that may be relevant but I really feel as though it isn't.
My Mum was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at the age of 12 and I also have a first cousin with Endo and another with PCOS (my two cousins and I are the eldest daughters).
Anyways, I have been putting off going to the doctors for almost a year and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this before I do go?
Thanks,
Sarah.
