Hi, Ladies! I haven't posted on the boards since an intro post back in January, but I've been reading through some of these threads to help prepare me for my upcoming laparascopy. It's scheduled for May 15, with a pre-op appt and bowel prep for the day before. I've never had anesthesia or any surgical procedure, so I'm a bit nervous about being put under and how it might affect me. I am a mostly-stay-at-home mom to 3 children (ages 5, 6, 8) and have a wonderful husband who has already arranged to have 4 days off work. I'm prepping freezer meals and plan to get things in order around the house before the lap so that I have less to worry about and it's easier on my family. I'm nervous about how soon I'll feel up to taking the kids to school and picking them up, let alone managing all of my daily tasks again. I guess I'm trying to plan for the worst but am really hoping that my recovery is quicker/easier than I expect!
One thing I'm not sure about is how long I will be at the hospital. I need to be there at 7:30 that morning, with surgery scheduled for 9:00. Is it usually a couple of hours before you can go home, or several hours? I know everything about endometriosis and the surgery is different for everyone, but I'm not sure what to expect. I've got friends on standby already who can pick the kids up from school that day, in case we aren't home in time for my husband to do that. I'm a person who needs to plan ahead and since I can't do anything else for myself until pre-op, I'm in that mode!
Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom from experience? In any case, I appreciate the support of those who've been there, done that!
Thanks!
Dalene
