I haven't been diagnosed yet, mostly because I hate drs, but also due to a lack of insurance and funding. But I'm about 99% sure that endo is my problem. My sister has it, and adeno (before her hysto). My symptoms are almost identical to what hers were, without the cysts.
On to the gritty details I suppose. I got my first . at 11. By high school I was cramping like a mofo and missing school monthly. I knew things were serious when I found myself curled up around a locker room toilet during gym class. When I could finally muster the strength to make it out to the gym, the teacher got someone to escort me to the nurse before I could even say a word. With the next few cycles, passing out became a regular guest. My mom finally took me to the "doctor" (I actually saw a PA) who did a manual exam and concluded smugly that it was just craps and I needed to take some midol and suck it up.
I'm now 30 and finally this year was forced into the doctors office again when I started getting my . every 2 weeks. I officially went to a gyno this time, the one who fixed my sister after her botched hysterectomy. I prepped well, made a list of symptoms and questions to ask... And then left my iPad at home, of course!
So I ran down my symptoms:
excruciating pain with menstruation, wherein I am unable to function for 3days at a time
dizziness
nausea
Headaches
severe mood swings
painful intercourse
Bowel mvmt fluctuation
painful urination
etc, etc, and so forth
He dismissed the idea of endo when I said I didn't have pain all month long. He did an exam, and an ultrasound which showed nothing. Pap came back clear. All he told me was "it's your uterus." Then, even though I told him that I'd been on several types of bc in college and they'd either been no help or made things worse, he still insisted I try Lo Loestrin Fe. The 2nd day on it I started getting sharp burning abdominal pains that felt like something trying to claw its way out of my abdomen from all sides, even up under my rib cage. That continued for the 3 months I was on it, and 2 weeks following. On top of all the "normal" side effects. And I still am bleeding twice a month.
i have now had 2 days without pain, where I could move and get some exercise, and now my pains are starting to come back.
I'm saving up for a lap, but only have $200 so far. I've been unable to work, and have just started doing some freelance writing from home. It's been stressful, to say the least, but I'm sure you all understand that!
thankfully my live in boyfriend has been supportive, and put up with my bawling and mood swings and incapability to do much of anything.
Thanks for letting me sign up here. I could really use someone who understands what I'm going through.
