Hi there, I am so grateful that I found this forum .
I have been having endometriosis in the last 10 years at least. Prior to that I would have gynaecologists telling me that I have some inflammation, tension, and adhesions. They would prescribe pelvic floor therapy along with cupping to remove any liquid that would accumulate. The treatment worked well at that time. My periods were mild.
In June 2006 I had to go to the emergency as I became bloated within half an hour and started throwing up. I felt feverish, cold, and my blood pressure dropped. After spending 8 hours there with no help, I walked out from there. At that time I did not know that I would experience those symptoms regularly. After that I went to see my family doctor, and he prescribed pills that I took for 6 months and had to stop die to regular migraines. In 2007 I had the first laparoscopic procedure that confirmed I had endometriosis. For about two years I had more or less normal periods. Then they started worsening. In 2011 I had 2nd laparoscopy, and my doctor had to remove the left fallopian tube as the endometriomas were entangled onto it. The left me in the hospital overnight since my blood pressure was low. The 2nd surgery did not help, the symptoms worsened. The first period that I had after the surgery was very painful and with heavy than before flow.
Since then my periods became more painful, heavier, and with clots. I had two ivf procedures that had and adverse affect on my periods. After the last one I developed a chronic anemia. Last fall my haemoglobin was at its lowest. I also took visanne for 20 days only as I developed severe migraines while on it. I do not attribute migraines visanne only: I was experiencing high level of stress at work, anemia, painful periods, and also stress that my mom was sick and we were trying to find out what was wrong with her. In addition I was mourning as my last ivf failed.
Over the last few years I tried acupuncture that was helping me and some herbs but not for long. Now I am going for the pelvic floor therapy that helps me to relax muscles in that area. In addition last year I started riding the bicycle on regular basis and noticed that the pattern of my periods stated changing. The last winter was brutally cold that I stopped riding for a while.
Interesting enough is that since I started riding the bike regularly last fall and taking visanne for a short time last fall my period in November was mild in terms of pain and flow, and the December one was the best in the last 10 years with mild flow and virtually no pain. Although in January it worsened, and in February it came back with revenge. And I decided to give visanne another try. I have been on it for the last 4 weeks with no migraines; however, the bleeding between the periods is there, the pain is there (manageable with painkillers), and since last week I have been having my period with flow increasing with everyday passed.
I have also noticed that I have a lump on my uterus. It is prominent during periods and when I am lying down on my back. I went to the gynaecologist and did ultrasound - they confirmed that I have a fibroid on my uterus that somehow I started noticing after the last ivf.
I have decided to leave my job as it was too much to bear - the job related stress and the Endo one. My last day was yesterday. In addition to all that I realised that I have to learn how to co-exist with Endo rather than constantly fighting it.
Thank you!
