One of the ways that myself and others chose to promote a healthy lifestyle involves the use of non-toxic products on our bodies and around the house. Products with harmful chemicals can promote cancers, mimic estrogen in the body, and promote autoimmune responses, among other things. It's hard to avoid all sources of these chemicals, but eliminating some of the constant sources of these chemicals can help our bodies begin to heal on some level. However, it can sometimes be difficult to cut through all the marketing to really determine what's considered 'safe' and what's just spin. I ran across this website that helps people like us determine what cosmetic and body care products are likely ok for us and which ones may be questionable. According to the website, "EWG's Skin Deep is an online safety guide for cosmetics and personal care products, launched in 2004 to help people find safer products, with fewer ingredients that are hazardous or that haven't been thoroughly tested. Skin Deep combines product ingredient lists with information in more than 50 standard toxicity and regulatory databases. The database provides easy-to-navigate safety ratings for tens of thousands of personal care products."Go here to search for your favorite products & see how they're rated: www.ewg.org/skindeep/Want to know what ingredients to avoid in your toothpaste or other products?
