Hi ladies! Just wanted to update you on my sweet daughter's surgery! I posted a few months back that we went and saw Dr. Andrew Cook of Vital Health Institute in Los Gatos, CA. Our initial appointment was in May, and she had surgery on July 19. Dr. Cook found endo on her bowel and bladder (she had started having some bowel symptoms the month before surgery), near her appendix (which he took out), and all over her pelvic region. (A PSA about appendicitis: Dr. Cook said he's had patients who ignored appendicitis symptoms because they thought it was endo-related, and ended up having a burst appendix. That was the main reason for taking it out).
For three years, she has suffered with daily pain, has missed out on a good two years of high school (she turned 18 on June 28), and has had her life disrupted by this stupid disease. She had surgery (lap) for endo three years ago on July 31, 2009, with absolutely no cessation of pain. For three years, I researched, took her to every imaginable alternative medicine practitioner, cried, prayed and generally agonized over the unfairness of it all. During all that time, her pain levels, even on Vicodin (or whatever pain med she was on daily), were 5 to 10.
As of today, August 28, 2012, her pain level is ZERO to 2. People, that is nothing short of a miracle.
We had to re-fi our home to get the money for surgery, since the insurance didn't want to cover it. It was 100% worth it. Sarah Jo now has a chance at a future, and boy, is she making plans. I am blessed that she never gave up, never let it beat her. Dr. Cook's success rates are through the roof, with many women not having recurrence of pain for upwards of 8 years.
She is making dietary changes to help support her newfound health. I couldn't be more proud of her, or more thankful to Dr. Cook.
Also, I am so very thankful to the support I have received here. Endo Resolved (and God) is the ultimate reason I found Dr. Cook. Jenaya posted an article by Dr. Cook on Facebook, I realized he was on the Endo Association list of doctors, and away we went.
So, THANK YOU, JENAYA. THANK YOU, LADIES OF ENDO RESOLVED. You are consistently in my thoughts and prayers. I want each of you to find the right treatment and defeat this disease in your life. I love you all.
