I took a dvd out from the library that I want to recommend to all of you: A.M. and P.M. Yoga for Beginners (2000) with Rodney Yee, Patricia Walden .
It is really low impact but helps wake me in the morning and relax in the evening. It does not hurt me (like a lot of exercise does) and does not bring on any pain (like some exercise seems to).
Each workout is only 20 minutes plus a few minutes of meditation. So far its been really great!

Target used to carry the AM PM yoga tapes and dvds too. I don't know if they still do, but I recall seeing them there. I'm sure you could find them on Amazon.com as well. One thing I wanted to mention was that when I was in college and taking a Tai Chi course I felt much better. Hardly any pain and just overall I felt so much better. Tai Chi is similar to yoga, however the method we used was a standing version of Tai Chi. I found the tape at a local library and somehow a copy was then found in my house?? The version we practiced is called Tai Chi Chih (pronounced chuh). By Justin Stone. You can google it and find a website and everything. Are there any other exercises that people have found to help them at all with pain?

I have had a number of people suggest Tai Chi to me. Thanks for the dvd suggestion - I am more comfortable exercizing at home, on my own schedule, at least for now. My pain is no longer predictable like it was when I was having a period!
It is interesting to discover that a lot of yoga poses are positions that I would get into during my period to relieve some of the pressure: bridge, childs pose, being on all fours (I forget what that is called), relaxation pose. I find downward dog unbelievable painful! For my hamstrings - not my endo!

I had once mentioned to my mother that I wanted to try yoga when I was younger and she said be careful with that its another religion The way she said it I was thinking Oh no a cult! So I never tried it. I'm going to have to give it a try if it can help me feel better.

I ordered the dvd from Amazon, have had it about a month...I'm loving it. I feel worse if I don't do it. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Baby bonnet, Your mom wasn't totally off--when yoga was first introduced to Europe and America, it was usually taught with its accompanying spiritual system. However, very few yoga studios today teach the full spirituality, and some eliminate it entirely. The shift is debated by yoga enthusiasts, but as someone who can't do much other exercise and likes her own religion just as it is, I'm grateful for the options.
I'm starting a pre-natal yoga class in a couple of weeks and am really looking forward to some structured exercise that won't hurt!
