Has anyone ever tried using castor oil packs on the abdomen and if so, has it helped with endo symptoms?

Hello. Well ive found that castor oil and lavender work well with easing pain. Half a cup of castor oil and 6 drops of lavender. Heat it up and soak a cloth in it and place on your pain area. It works very well for me. Give it a try.

I was just researching how to make a castor oil pack and I keep reading that they should not be used during menstruation - any thoughts on this??

I also tried Caster oil pack. It really helps. But getting lazy for few-days. I read that if you use continiously 3 months (each week 2 to 3 times) and then decrease it to once in a week, you will see or feel the cleansing benefit. Camille, I also heard that it should not use during menstruation time. And, I follow that...Don't really know- why. Sorry...

Hi Camille I found some information that said using alternating hot and cold water and castor oil packs can be very helpful in improving blood flow and getting rid of waste products from the pelvic area and liver. They are of great value in conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids and ovarian cysts. PMS symptoms can also be relieved using these treatments. Castor oil packs over the pelvis should not be used during menstruation itself, as it can increase uterine contractions and cause pain. Epsom salt baths can also be used to relax muscles and relieve pain and spasms. Hope this helps somewhat

Hi Cass,
I never thought about that caster oil pack can rid of waste products from pelvic. But, after reading u'r post I think it does and interestingly. so, why not pain and waste relife together? I need to restart that again. Also, epsom salt and levender bath really work for me.

Hi there, does anyone have experience with castor oil packs? I ordered some oil today for it to arrive probably Monday or something. My period is due first, so I'll start with the packs right when that's over. I'm curious if anyone has used them, if you noticed a difference in the pain or other symptoms and how often you did them? Thanks!! Susanne

Hi Susanne, I've done castor oil packs before. To be honest, I can't say if they helped my pain or not: I started doing them around the same time as my laparoscopy, so any pain-minimizing could have just been because of the surgery. I did them several times a week (aiming for every other day) for about 3 months. Then I stopped because I was pregnant. My baby's now 7 months old, and I've started doing castor oil packs again, but only once a week (no time for more with a baby!) If nothing else, the warmth feels good. Many, many people recommend them for detoxing - I have no idea if it works, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't hurt either, so why not? Sorry I can't be more helpful!

Hey Saz, We posted the same questions within minutes of eachother... what are the odds of that hum?
Anyway, I did a pack for 4 days in a row this week. first time 2 hours to see how my skin would react. But the oil is very soft and not irritating or something at all. So then I left the pack on overnight for 2 nights. I didn't sleep too well like this though so the forth I put on in the evening (at 7 or something) and left on till I went to bed. I put the soacked cloth on my belly and then wrap my self with clingfilm (not sure if this is the right word: the plastic foil you use to cover food). This way the pack stays put and I can move around as I like. The only thing is that the oil eventually leaks at the bottom of the clingfilm, so I have put a towel there and make sure that I sit on a plastic sheet to prevent staining on the sofa. The first time I was messing about getting the pack on, oil was everywhere, but at the third pack I knew what to do and to watch out for etc so it went pretty smooth.
I did notice increased bm after the third pack. Also my pain increased while doing pack 3 but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the castor oil as I was ovulating arounf that time (always gets worse then) and also started homeopathic remedies last week. I plan to have a rest now for 3 days and then continue with 4 packs a week for 3 months, and then build down to 1/week. I will let you know how it goes.
Oh, question! I was thinking to wash the cloth I used after every week because I figured the oil will not stay good. Is this so or can I use the same cloth maybe for 2 weeks?? Would save quite some oil. Anyone experience? Thanks!

My naturopath asked me to wait with the castor oil packs until she had a better idea of how my system would react to the homeopatic medicin she prescribed and she didn't want to overload my system. So, I didn't do a second round of packs yet. I saw my naturopath this week and now she said it was ok to proceed. So, next week = pack time again.

My daughter saw the ND yesterday for the first time, and she has recommended epsom salt baths and castor oil pack applications, which she will start tonight. Her written instructions say to use white flannel, but I have old flannel baby blankets which are coloured. Do you think her advice that they be white has anything to do with the dye in the patterned ones? Am I worrying needlessly? Also, it says to use a heating pad over top, but I have those Magic Bags that you heat in the microwave and am wondering if they would work just as well?
Thanks for any insight!
