I had read recently that something called Indole-3-Carbinol could be useful in helping treat endo from the point of view of balancing out the hormonal levels.
From the web: "Indole-3-Carbinol is a dervative of brussel sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower. Indole-3-Carbinol gives your body the raw material to inactivate estradiol. Take 200 mg/day of indole-3-carbinol. Since indole-3-carbinol lowers estradiol levels you may or may not get hot flashes. However, you may only need to take indole-3-carbinol for 2-3 months for your endometriosis. Clinically, we seem to get better results using indole-3-carbinol rather than DIM (Diiindolymethane). Indole-3-Carbinol lowers estradiol. Estradiol stimulates endometriosis. Thus, using indole-3-carbinol makes the endometriosis better. "
Some general info about I3C I found:
I3C is (a naturally occurring phytochemical found in cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, and kale. Provides powerful antioxidant protection, helping to prevent cellular damage caused by free radicals. In addition, I3C can help to maintain healthy normal hormonal balance, for both men and women and therefore may support the health of the breast, prostate, and other reproductive organs. I3C is also known to support the liver's detoxification processes with the highest level of Flax Lignans available, which are also beneficial in supporting healthy normal hormone balance).
Here is a site that talks some more about it: www.nowfoods.com/?action=itemdetail&item_id=41666
So my question is, has anyone heard of this or tried it as a supplement??
