Hi Mods! I searched for something along these lines and didn't find anything, but then again I'm also pretty handicapped when it comes to using our search engine.. so if this already exists, please feel free to bump it to the right place. Anyway, since our disease is SO awesomely under-publicized, there really aren't that many good quotes/images/articles/etc. to share for endometriosis awareness. I personally would LOVE to spread awareness on my facebook, but I don't like to come across whiny or over-dramatic. I think that it would be great if us endo girls could all band together and get creative and try to come up with/find good quotes, status updates, and articles to share on our Facebooks and Twitters throughout this month! Here is what I posted today: Hi friends March is endometriosis awareness month! Living with an invisible illness is no fun. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist! So many women like me struggle with this disease on a near daily basis while many of the people around them are oblivious to how hard they really fight. If you or someone you know/care about has endometriosis, please help them increase awareness by sharing this post! along with a link to Dr. Cook's "What it Really Means to Have Endometriosis" article. If you're Facebook friends with me and you like that, feel free to share it!

Yay! Me too! I just feel like a lot of what IS out there is really over-the-top dramatic, and the LAST thing I want is for people to regard us as attention-seeking drama queens (which, in a lot of cases, they already do, which is stupid). It would be really great if we could come up with some better more humble yet matter-of-fact statements that catch people's attention in a positive way!

I do have faith in you, Jess. If anyone can come up with humble yet matter of fact statements that get people's interest in a positive way, it would be you.

Thanks, Kristin! I'm trying... but DAMN, it's hard!!!! What do you guys think of this one? I reallyyyyy really want feedback too, so if you think anything sounds whiney, pedantic, dramatic, etc. PLEASE give me tips!
"What if...
What if you were sick with something nobody could see, and physicians, family, or friends dismissed you because your symptoms weren’t blatantly obvious? What if you felt miserable most of the time, and had to wear a smile anyway? And what if you had to have surgery or treatment every few months or years because there wasn’t a cure? … What if there were 89 MILLION others just like you? Wouldn’t you want something to be done about it? If you or someone you love suffers from endometriosis, spread the word. Awareness is key for a cure. <3"

I just started posting things on facebook as well. I've chosen to repost some links I've found through my facebook feed and add a simple personal statement. I don't want to come across as a victim, but at the same time I'm tired of feeling embarrassed or afraid of my disease.

I've just spent an hour on the phone to a journalist from a national newspaper. She's writing an article about people who are misdiagnosed with IBS, and it looks like I'm going to be her endo girl!!

This is a great blog about endo research that I subscribed to: endo-update.blogspot.com/. This guy updates not too often, but interesting stuff when he does. He also linked to the ERC's Facebook pages, I think they are posting different snippets to copy or share for this month. I know the Endo Foundation of America is doing their annual event, it is $$$! I wish there was an event a little more affordable for us endo gals. :/

i put something similiar to it a few months back but now have deleted my fb account as to be honest had issues....
this is just something i came up with feel free to adapt or change it or disregard it lol
" imagine being in pain so bad its like someone really is tearing you up inside....imagien having to smile anyway....coz those who dont understand or are aware of your pain just push it aside or think your making it up....this is me...just imagine if it was someone close to you your sister, mother, friend grandmother, would you not want to spread the awareness and help others who may not know about it.....endometriosis - the invisible illness spread awareness and knowledge and educate each other...."
i know its not much and not perfected but just an idea along those lines....
let me know what you think
and hels that is awesome so glad for you let me know how it goes and keep us updated would be a good thing
