It's been a while since I've been here, but now I've gotten myself into the whole process so I thought I'd start researching a bit more. LOL
I have scheduled surgery with the CEC in Atlanta with Dr. Albee on Feb. 8th.
I am pretty much freaking out about the whole ordeal wondering if I am doing the right thing.
I do not even know if I have endo! But at this point, I guess I won't ever know until they go take a look inside.
I think I am afraid the most that they will go in and not find anything!! Then what will I do?! Then of course the next thing is that I am terrified they will find something like ovarian cancer which scares me even more. Ugh.
I guess I will just update this thread as I go along and chronicle my experience with the CEC.... I am definitely not looking forward to the bowel prep, short of maybe being able to completely rid my body of poo and bloating, that part actually sounds great! LOL I am tired of my pants not fitting and looking like I am 5-6 months preggo.

Oh the bowel prep is so much fun! HAHA! I was using diaper rash cream when I did my bowel prep to deal with the discomfort. Surgery is always scary and full of uncertainty. We all have that fear of them finding nothing, or finding something completely terrible. It's just better to get it done sooner rather than later so that you know what you're dealing with. I've brought up this topic before but it's hard when we have a chronic issue like endometriosis because you just never know when to blame your symptoms on endo or if you should be concerned if it's something new. I often struggle with this myself. I usually blame every little thing I feel on endo but in the back of my mind I have that little concerned voice telling me, what if it's something else? It's hard to deal with a chronic issue and it's hard to get a doctor to take you seriously when you have a chronic issue. The best advice I can give anyone is that if your gut feeling is telling you something is wrong then you should trust it. If something doesn't feel right then trust that your body is telling you something. The process is scary but I wouldn't doubt yourself and your decision to push this further. You really should find out the cause of your symptoms especially if it's so concerning to you that you are worried. I wish you tons of luck and I look forward to hearing about your progress! We'll be here to help you along the way

Hey,
I can totally understand your concern about them not finding anything - I'm confident just about every one of us had a similar fear prior to our lap. As for going to the CEC without knowing if you have endo, well, if you do have endo, you'll certainly be in the right place! And if you don't, I suspect you'll at least have the comfort of knowing that you had a complete look. If, for some reason, there's something other than endo to deal with, I suspect you'd be in excellent hands. Even though they are endo specialists there, I suspect they know a thing or two about other pelvic issues!
Here's hoping you can find some calm in all of the justifiable worry!
