I don't know what it is... I can be feeling just fine, and then someone takes a picture of me and I see it, and my self esteem plummets. I was going to post some pics of me tonight because I can't decide which outfit to wear to the Christmas party on Friday. Sam took the pictures, and when I saw them, all I saw was fat and ugly. What the f**k is wrong with me?

I do the same thing! My self esteem is great until I see myself in a picture and then I want to curl up and die. I don't know why.

I struggle with that too. I've gained a lot of weight since my surgery and being on continuous bc. I look at pictures of myself and I can't stand what I look like. It can be really tough.

Yeah, I have an especially hard time in the dressing room when clothes shopping. Super discouraging.
So what are you wearing tonight?

I wore a black dress that makes me look kinda skinny, black pearl liquid silver necklace, my special earrings (my lobes are stretched so I don't have many pretty earrings anymore), black/white striped socks and my snow boots lol. Good old Vermont.

I had an okay time. I'm not much of a party person--mostly go to see the few people I know who work with Sam, and to get free food. I ate chicken wings, clams casino, stuffed mushrooms, grapes, apples, pears, crackers, and on the way home we stopped and got Ben & Jerry's. I figured I won't be cheating this bad until May (sister's graduation), so I might as well live it up. That ice cream was soooooo goooooooooood.

I saw a special on the discovery chanel one time addressing this issue. It was a documentary of course but they were working with woman with low self esteem by sending them to this photographer to get pictures taken... nude! The theory was to get them comfortable with their bodies and to slowly work up to the nude picture. It was quite interesting. None of these woman had ever been able to look at their own pictures

It's weird. We all have our own insecurities no matter what we look like. I used to be horribly insecure about having a small chest. It actually took me getting sick to realize that, hey, they may be small but they're healthy! After being sick for so long, I realized that as long as I'm healthy, what I look like comes secondary. So I've come to love my tiny A/B cups, my stretch marks, my cellulite. I do go to the gym and work hard to stay fit, but I'm not perfect and that's Ok. I'm happy the way I am.
