I've been lurking for a bit - this board is really helpful - but I have a question I haven't seen answered yet.
I am working my way towards surgery, but I have a complicating factor: I am a stay-at-home-mom to a two-year-old. I am planning on having excision surgery with the CEC, and I have been told to assume a recovery time of 2-3 months. I obviously have to plan my surgery very carefully so that I can have someone to watch her while I'm recovering.
My current plan is to have the surgery the week before Christmas if Dr. Sinervo has an opening around then. My mom, husband, and in-laws would all be able to help care for me and my daughter during their Christmas vacation. My mother-in-law would be able to watch her through the first week of January, and my husband and mom can both take off a week in January. But after that, I'm mostly going to be on my own. That would be 5-6 weeks after surgery.
So the question: after the kind of aggressive excision surgery I'm expecting, should I be worried about only having help for 5-6 weeks? Will I be able to run after a two-year-old that far after surgery?
Also, if I can't have the surgery in mid-December, I'm going to have to wait until summer vacation when my mom, who is a teacher, can help me for an extended time. But I don't want to wait that long - last month, I was on the bathroom floor in pain, unable to move. My daughter was in the living room and I could hear her being rowdy. But there was nothing I could do. I don't want an extra six months of that before getting this taken care of... but what other choice will I have if I can't get the surgery in December?
ETA: But if I have the surgery in December, how horrible is my Christmas going to be?
Thank you so much for your responses!
