Hi, I had 2 miscarriages in the past year after trying to get pregnant for 10 years. I've taken supplements (the one from the edometriosis assoc) for some time now. Aprox in the last month I have been taken VItex 3xday and also after ovulation baby aspirin and CQ10. Vitex the idea is to regulate hormonoes and aspirin and CQ10 to help prevent miscarrige. I found out today that I am pregnant again! After 10 years trying hope that his time stays! Anyway I want to keep taking Vitex, aspiring and CQ10 for the first trimestre as prevention. Also read about red raspberry tea and Black haw as a uterine tonic and I remember las time I had terrible cramps and then miscarriged, the first time at week 5 and the second at week 9. Anyway any advice on this plan/herbs would be much appreciated!

Make sure and go to the doctor and get your HCG levels checked. If they are low you can get Progesterone to help. Early miscarriages like that are usually related to a lack of progesterone. I had a miscarriage too, I hope that baby STAYS safely in your womb for the full nine months!!

Congratulations! I agree with what omak said about getting your HCG levels checked. Don't really know any herbs you can take but I really, really hope that you'll carry this one to term and send wishes for a healthy, bouncing baby in 9 months!

Congrats!!!
I know vitex is used to stimulate the body to produce more progesterone. It can take a few months to take effect, though, so I agree with the others - get your levels tested and if needed, ask your doc about progesterone.
I've heard conflicting things about red raspberry tea, and I *think* I've read somewhere that it isn't suggested for pregnancy. Don't quote me on that, but please look into it!
I'm very sorry about your miscarriages. Something that can contribute is a thyroid imbalances. Even slight imbalances can contribute to a miscarriage. We'll all cross our fingers and toes that this pregnancy sticks, but if you haven't already had your thyroid checked out, might want to consider that one.
Good luck!!!

Thank you for all your reply. I had my blood test done today to check a buch of things not only the HCG I will see my doctor next week so I will keep you posted. I also read about some conflicting info about red raspberry so I will not take it for now.(the doctor already checked my thyroid before pregnant and said that all was fine)

Congrats, Apple! Hoping this one sticks Red Raspberry Tea is actually used to help bring on labor later on in pregnancy. I *HIGHLY* recommend you steer clear of it for now. Honestly, I wouldn't take anything except a pre-natal vitamin for now. Sending baby dust your way

Apple, when I was pregnant the first time I miscarried a 9 weeks but when I got pregnant the second time my fertility dr gave me progesterone, he said it would help the baby stick so of course not wanting to loss the baby I took it and I have a beautiful baby girl. I know that all my levels were normal but the dr told me that it's how they treat endo pregnancies and I'm not saying that you should take it just wanted to let you know what worked for me. I have lever 4 endo and the dr didn't think I would ever get pregnant let alone have a healthy full term pregnancy.

Thanks much erna for your reply. My last miscarriage was in June (got pregnant in april) my first one was in October last year but was ectopic and I lost it at week 5, not even time to check hormones, etc... But for the second one I was able to see my endo especialist and I trusted in them but the only test they have done was the ultrasound to make sure it was not ectopic then a second one to make sure if was all fine. I did mention for them to check my progesterone and also to see if there was anything else to check but I got dismissed saying that there was not need and they usually check the progesterone with IVF treatments,..then on my next appointment they said they could not see a heart beat and the baby stopped growing at week 8 or 9.Anyway this has been a rollercoster all along, you can read some of my histoy in here since I 've been a memeber since 2006. I was very sick so I was away for some time. I was diagnosed with Endo quite severe stage IV in 2004, 2 surgeries, and all similar staff to what women go through on this site. Also 3 years ago was diagnosed with severe myofascial pain on my right side (a side effect of all the endo pain!) that makes me hard to seat/walk/stand for long period oftimes. Trying to get pregnant for 10 years they told me that my case was imposible for me but I was so happy when I got pregnant last year,it was hard the lost, then lost the second one and that was emotinally painfull as well physically. Now I have yet again my hopes up. This is another challenge. I though that the challenge ended when I got pregnant but like all of us with endo, the challenge never ends...Anyway Vitex supose to help with keeping hormones in balance, especially progesterone,I will be more pushy next week when I see my doctor on thursday...I will keep you posted...
thank you italialyn for your comments, I read that you got pregnant so congrats! And how are you doing this days...

Congrats Apple - that is wonderful news. Please do not touch the Raspberry Tea. it is a uterine tonic, used for preparing the uterus for labour and delivery. This is not something that should be taken until the very end of the pregnancy! A good pre-natal vitamin should be all you need for now. Be careful not to take one with a high level of iron in it though. I did this for a bit and it made me v constipated - in fact it was so uncomfortable and I couldn't eat much! Good luck and keep us posted x

Thanks! I had my appointment today with the result of my blood test that confirm I am pregnant! my levels as follow (I am in Canada so keep in mind the units may be different as other countries): HCG 485 DHEAS 0.6 Progesterone 86.5 I showed the doctor the supplementes I am taking and he said to continue with all but to stop Vitex and the baby aspiring until I see my gynecologist (he is sending me to one that take care of high risk pregnancy but probably I won't see him until 1-2 weeks). Also he order another blood work and I did today, I will have results next week. I also asked him to check if I have a blood clot issue and this test may take a while but since my last 2 miscarriage they did not check much I am more proactive/aggressive in asking for things to check. I will stop the baby aspiring for now but for Vitex I will do it slowly so that I don't create a dip on my progesterone. He also found my vitamin D low as well as iron, so I have to get both supplements. I asked him for a form or iron that does not upset my stomatch and create constipation so he gave "feramax" that suppose to be better. Today is week 5, keepping my fingers crossed!
