Introvale (generic for seasonique) has also been recalled. Sandoz has issued a voluntary recall of 10 lots of its generic birth control pill Introvale. These lots of Introvale have been recalled because of a recent report of a packaging flaw. A consumer reported that the white placebo tablets (also sometimes called "sugar pills") were mistakenly in the ninth row (labeled “Week 9”) of the 13-row blister card, rather than in the correct position in the 13th row, the final row in the pack labeled “Week 13”. Depo Medrol (methylprednisolone acetate) This is a steriodal spinal injection medication that has been reported to be tainted with a fungus. Patients are becoming infected with a fungal meningitis as a result. "The fungal meningitis has sickened 26 people in five states, killing four. Cases have come up in Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Florida. All of those infected had received steroid injections to the spine. The Tennessee victims range in age from 49 to 89, and the prime suspect for this outbreak is methylprednisolone acetate, according to officials. Methylprednisolone acetate is an injectable steroid product used to treat pain and inflammation. The FDA identified the manufacturer as New England Compounding Center (NECC), which conducted a recall of the drug. The FDA is working with state health departments to investigate the scope and cause of the outbreak. " www.aahs.org/news/?p=688
