Your dr. said it was growing pains?! I had to laugh at that. It's not as if you are 12 years old, you're an adult. Why would you be still be "growing?" Or am I misunderstanding this? Also, I don't think it hurts to grow when you're a child (at least in general). That seems like a rather unscientific thing for a dr. to say. LOL Couldn't he/she make up a better story than that?
My endo pain is weird in that it's not in the pelvis. It's in my right side (belly button level, where the rib cage ends), where there is something growing there (about an inch big), which was seen on US. It also cramps when my period starts, so there are cramps in my pelvis and then cramps in that spot on the right too. Then after my period is flowing, the cramps stop, but I still have a twinging sharp pain there (it comes and goes). It's only the last 3 months that it escalated into being a bigger pain and lasting longer. For the past year or so, it was mostly just a 1-3 days of pain, the past 3 months, it's been more like 10-12 days, always corresponding with my period.
When I had an endometrioma on my ovary back in 2002, I had left ovary pain (twinging sharp pain) every month around days 9-11 of my cycle and randomly, I'd have excrutiating pain for a few hours in my pelvis. It was not every month, and not always on my period, although usually it was on my period. This went on for a year before I finally had it checked and removed via a lap.

i was about 15 when he said that, but then again at 15 you have almost finished growing anyway. When I finally got to see the dr the pain had gone, so wasn't much for him to go on i guess. Still wasn't happy with that "diagnoses" That's not the worst i've been told though; I was about 17 when i heard about endo, suggested to the other dr if i could have it, she replied that i couldn't have it cos the pain went away while i was on the pill, and here i am, 12 yrs later, with confirm endo and the gyno is treating it with, surprise surprise, the pill.

My pain is definitely all over the place too. Some days if it's not one thing it's another. It always feels achey and crampy. The cramps varying from dull, achey, stabbing, burning, tearing. I'm always fatigued and my whole body usually aches pretty bad by the end of the day. Running a few errands or a 6 hr shift at work leaves me with aches and pains or an upset stomach for the rest of the night. The past few nights my legs have been SO incredibly achey and i dont know they just hurt so bad. It sounds weird but if my boyfriend hugs my legs and puts pressure on them they start feel better! haha

Some of my endo pain feels like very intense menstrual cramps, which I can see trembling and contracting if I look at my lower belly. But I get it in more places than my uterus. I get muscle pain everywhere. Neck, whole back, arms, legs, shoulders, ankles, and wrists. My lower back especially seizes up, making walking very difficult and standing in one place even worse. My body reacts like I have the flu every time, including with swolen lymph glands in my neck, underarms and pelvis. I often feel like I've been run through a blender. I also get horrible bowel pain when it's time to do a number two. I've had family members knock on the bathroom door asking "Are you going to be okay in there?" It hurts to push, and it hurts not to push, even when I'm not constipated. I also have terrible gas pain, all of it feeling very sharp and stabby. As of late, I've been having twingy pain around where my ovaries are that lasts for weeks. I can't work during my period. I pretty much stay in bed all day and pass clean out, waking up only to go to the washroom and holler for my sister (who is usually home) to get me something to eat. I sound like a joy, don't I? Ree.

My pain varies. Sometimes it's an achy feeling in my lower abdomen, and sometimes it's like cramps. But lately it's been an intense pain in my lower back. It was so bad today that I couldn't bend over. I also get sharp, intense, cramps that feel like labor contractions when I'm on my period.

Indy - have you tried icing your lower back? That used to help me alot as well when I was in dire pain. Just wrap a thin towel around the pack and only use for no more than 20 min - try it, might help! Hang in there!

I go the opposite way....heating pad! It's funny, when I had my lap, my mom was talking about using a heating pad when we got home, to help with the pain. A nurse overheard her and said, NO, you never want to use a heating pad for pain! That baffled us, because we'd always heard about using heat for cramps. Then, another nurse was discharging me, and she said to try a heating pad for comfort!! LOL! So, I'm not sure which is the correct way to go, heat or ice, but the heat does help me. I could try ice sometime, and see how that goes....I'm open to trying anything that will help!

You have nothing to loose so just try the ice, maybe it will help the lower back - for me, it really does. You can still use the heating pad on your belly, trust me, when I had my endo pain, I know how that heating pad or heated microwave pack can be your BFF!

Heat worked great for me and still does. Everyone is different. You have to see what works for you.

I do not get any cramps; my Dr.'s call them Labor Pains. Its excruciating. I do not know what cramps are, I know what running cramps are, but I have no idea what period cramps feel like. I get severe pain that can cause me to pass out (if I didnt take strong pain meds), and its continuous pain; from about 1 week before my period, to about a week after, and of course, the worst during.

My period pain is like I am being repeated stabbed in the lower abdomen, and I feel like my entire abdomen has been filled with little electrical shocks and acid. My back goes into a loud throbbing pains, and on the right side it goes into my hip as well. I get a knawing pain in my right groin area, and it continues down my thigh. Both legs ache horribly, and I have trouble using my right leg, and at times walk with a limp and driving in impossible.
The week before my period I have bad bloating which hurts on it's own, and the leg pain starts. I get severe gas like pains, and severe lower abdominal cramping when I try to eat, pass gas, or have a bowel movement.
The week after is about the same as the week before.

my pain varies, mostly hurts on & around my right ovary/abdomen area & lower back. i feel sharp shooting pain, with heavy cramping that comes with it, shooting jolts through my vagina & inner thighs, but still very hard to explain. i've never had kids, but have heard that it's comparable to labor pains as well. before i found out that i had endometriosis, i usually hurt 1-2 before my period, during, and 1-2 days after. now (after my lap on june 18th 2012) it's a week before period, during & a week after (sometimes more). i've also been told i have interstitial cystitus so after my period i would feel a heaviness cramp on my abdomen when i empty my bladder. it's weird, cus i don't have a burning or anything during the release..only after it's empty.
