hahaha! Love it! Hummm. Let's go see what's in the fridge..... Who's Colon Care is that??!!!! Must be Janet's! Just kidding!!! I take my psyllium husk at night, and it works overnight for me. It stimulates a bowel movement if you are constipated (overnight or w/in 24 hours) or stops diarrhea by bulking the stool. You'll just have to experiment w/ it.

Just wanted to share with you all my good news and to pass it on that my terrible stomach problems: diahrrea, incompacitating cramping, etc. are much better. I believe it was ouchie who told me to try psyllium husk. I haven't had a bad bowel movement since. Its funny how you can take that for granted!! I just take one to two capsules a day. Its only been 3 weeks, but I thought I would share in case it helps anyone else. I"m also on Lupron which helps but I was still having stomach problems every so often that were sooo painful. But the psyllium husk really seems to be working. I hope you all have the same results if you try it! ;D

Does the GNC Psylium Husk work? Anyone tried it? If not, what brand seems to work best? Does it help with the cramping?

just a reminder for those who may not know...when taking any kind of fiber supplements, leave a two hour window for taking any medications or herbal supplements. if you take them together, the fiber will inhibit the absorption of your meds.

Is that true? I take my chinese herbs first thing then follow up with my psyllium mixture, then about two hours later i am taking all my supplements. but what about the chinese herbs, will that become obsolete?

I actually wondered that, as the fiber does absorb so much. Where did you get your info from, normadesmnd? I honestly didn't research it. My gastrointerologist also didn't make any mention of it interfering, but that could be because I wasn't taking any meds!

I bought Metamucil today as well as acidophilus. I am going to start taking it tonight and see how it helps my stomach. I hope I don't get too gassy; I am already pretty gassy as it is (I get horrible gas pains)!

The gas might be worse in the beginning. As everything comes together, though, you shouldn't have excess gas. In fact, it has actually helped my gas.

I havent added the fiber in yet because I'm having more gas pains just from the acidophilus. I'll try that in a few days. My P. Doc also upped my Remeron dosage to see if it helps again with the stomach problems. I hope between all of these things I get some lasting relief. I'm crossing my fingers!

sorry it took so long to respond ladies. to be honest, i don't remember exactly where i have read it. i did read it more than once. i believe one reference was my nutritional healing book. i can check again for you. i am usually pretty good with retaining info. even though i may not remember where from. but it is something i do live by. it makes taking meds more difficult but it is worth it to me.

I did some experimenting w/ Metamucil and Sam's Choice's psyllium husk capsules (when I was in a hurry and didn't want to mix the bulk husk in a glass of O.J.), and I can say that the big bulk bag I get at the health food store does an AMAZINGLY better job than either the Metamucil or Sam's Choice brands.

I have been taking the psyllium for about 2 weeks now, and have found myself NOT having many bowel movements at all. I think its partly cause I gave up coffee around the same time, which freezes things. I am slowly starting to come around, but not going to the bathroom nearly as much as I believe my body would like. I am also experiencing mucus on my bowel movements, which I know is a symptom of IBS, but could also be some sort of cleansing from my colon.
I am eating alot of fiber: roughage, mung beans, fruit, prunes, etc.
what do you think?

^ How much are you taking per day? Maybe you could try halving the amount you take? Or try taking it opposite of how you're taking it now (if you're only taking it once per day now), either in the morning or before bed?

I take it in the morning, but maybe I will try before bed. I take a very small amount as well. i am due for a detox and juice fast so hopefully that will help.
