Hi I am wondring if anyone on this site has ever taken the herb Maca for endo problems? I ahve read alot of research that this herb helps to normalise hormones and that it is good for glands particually adrenal thyroid. Sometime sites say that it should not be used for endo because it increases estrogen, which of course is what you don't want. Most sites say that it balances, so there is some debate. I did try it in small doses for a couple of months and it really help with some symptoms... allergies, digestion so it was a shame when it did seem to make estrogen symptoms worse. The thing is that this also happened to me when I used natural progesterone cream and I have been told that when you start taking this sort of stuff that it desensitizes you and things do get worse before they get better. Any thoughts...ideas...anyone here tried this herb? Thanks...Redmoon

Hi Redmoon, I'm new to the group today but as I was saying in the Introduction area, I am interested in trying alternative therapy. I have not tried Maca, nor have I heard of it. But I will do some research on it and certainly try it myself. At this point I am willing to try most anything! Do you know of any other natural supplements that help? I've also heard feverfew and evening primrose oil can be helpful. Hope you're doing better today.

Hi Sunnycat I have just left you a message on the intro board but just to say there are quite a few thing that you can try and lots of info here on this site. From the research I have done endo seems to be about imbalance in the body, in particular the liver and hormones, there is often too much estrogen in the body and the liver has the job of filtering out estrogen so it needs to be working well to do this. Of course the digestion plays a big part also has you need to be getting nutrients and its not so much a case of what you eat as what you absorb! Diet can help a lot and making sure that your digestion and liver are working as well as possible. I found a good site by a women called Julia Chang I think here name is any way she says that she cure herself of endo through the use of Chinese herbs and tinctures, such as coptis and Chinese bitters. She gives some good tips and list of herbs that you should stay away from because of the estrogen content. Actually one of them was Evening Primrose which I thought was funny because I know so many people who have said that this has worked for them but take a look. Its www.sensiblehealth.com I think. In my desperation I have tried some really expensive things a lot of which have not worked but I have just sent off for some Antioxidants and I will let you know how I go with this. Another thing I am trying is ear acupuncture and although I am just doing this for the endo and not to get pregnant I have heard that it is good for fertility. Something else that has worked for the pain is Castor oil packs! So I hope this gives some ideas of what you can try if you want to go down that road. I want to heal...I want to heal on all levels and everything is connected to me...so for me this way is my best chance. Best of Luck...Redmoon
