Has anyone ever read a book called "The China Study"?
I just started reading it, and it is an excellent book. It is all about how food affects disease within the body. So far in what I have read it talks mostly of toxins and how protein intake correlates to cancer development. Very fascinating read though.

good to hear this! i've had it on my list to read, it's well-renowned in vegan education as the pinnacle study supporting the health benefits of a vegan diet. just by the title, i assumed it would be super dry... thanks for the encouragement, i'm finally going to see if my library has it. has it pushed you to make any changes? do tell!

For me, the book Skinny Bitch really pushed me to eat healthier. The title can be really off-putting but it's really not about losing weight necessarily, and definitely not about being a bitch lol. It's really educational, full of information about all of the food we eat and the book is so witty and entertaining -- which was great for someone like me who can get bored incredibly easily with books/reading. I'd highly recommend it if you're at all interested in food health and nutrition! They preach a vegan lifestyle, but you can pick and choose your interests. Although, they can be VERY convincing, kinda put me off of meat for a couple of years!

I'm with you, jessabug, love me some Skinny Bitch! I handed out copies as gifts when it came out because I love their approach and it's a quick read. Even if it just raises awareness about where our food comes from, I think it's very valuable. And ya gotta love the poop chapter, right?
