ive been to the health food shop today and have decided to add black cohosh to my regime.
Have been taking vitex for several months and have had no relief of the pain, though its helped my PMS greatly.
Am crossing my fingers this helps, something has to eventually, will post again in a month or two and let everyone know if it helped.

I have black cohosh drops that a friend sent me, and I plan to start taking it daily as directed. If it will help with cramps (since I get pelvic pain even when I am no menstruating), I'm all for it!

Well not sure how much its helping yet, had a great day monday for the first time in months, so can only attribute that to the black cohosh.
Im not going to be able to say how well it works long term though, coz i get my mirena put in monday (hopefully) so wont be able to continue the black cohosh.

Im not sure actually, am not sure what might interfere so gonna stop anything im unsure of until i find out for sure.
Ive emailed the company, and will see what i can find out tomorrow when i get it inserted, also plan on asking the ladies at the health food shop next time im there, but am really not sure.

Hi folks,
Cohosh is a bit different that soy. However, ANYTHING we take too much of is bad. I know a year ago I got serious and started with soy milk and soy this and that. Well, during my last lap my doc told me that the soy MIGHT have contributed to my tumor.
One thing is to use soy sauce (which I still do) but I sure a heck don;t go nutz about using soy products now. I try to avoid them. I think it's a TERRIFIC product for women who are going thru menopause and for after, but not for young women with endo. Just my two cents from my own exp. ;D

^Soy has pretty much only been talked about in this thread in its use to induce ovulation. When I took it, I would only take the lowest dose for 5 days at a time (like Clomid).

I was sure there was a thread on soy products, but now i cant find it, can someone please move it if there is one. Ive been thinking on the soy milk thing, were warned against soy products, but i find it a pain that were not meant to have dairy and i cant replace it with soy milk. I grew up drinking alot of soy milk, being lactose intolerant, and i quite like it, plus its the only milk other than normal milk i can stand in coffee. But the reasons not to have it are the chemicals and phytoestrogens. I dont think phytoestrogens are bad, i take them in the form of black cohosh and find it quite beneficial for me, so i dont think that reason is enough. So surely, if i was to use an organic soy milk it would be ok? Does anyone else still have soy milk? I cant stop having it in my decaf coffee, so im thinking the soy would have to be better than reg milk. Would love peoples thoughts on this.

Hello KB, This is a valid point. How do we manage if we cut out milk and dairy products? I followed a completely wheat/gluten and dairy free diet for 18 months (at the moment I'm wheat/gluten free only) a few years ago and mainly used soya milk and yogurt at that time, as I didn't know of any alternatives. However, there are almond, rice and goat milks (usually in powdered form). They can each be used as a substitute for milk, by either adding some of the powder to tea/coffee/recipes or mixing up the required amount with water. You may have to buy from a whole food online supplier (I do).

One of my friends with both endo and PCOS drinks soy milk like crazy. I've never had soy milk, but I've taken soy capsules, and it worked like the cohosh for me as far as inducing ovulation. I have tried almond milk, and it is really yummy. I got the sugar-free one and sweetened it with Stevia.

I hate rice milk, its way too sweet, i like oat milk, but only in cereal, not hot drinks, i havent tried almond milk actually, maybe should give that one a go first. I was reading up further on the soy milk thing last night, one of the other reasons is the processing apparently causes a soybean specific toxin to be released, hmmm. Its interesting. I was then reading about the link to thyroid probs with soy, and there really isnt any convincing evidence, its all a bit maybe maybe not. Then i was thinking, its not like im talking about alot anyway, is the small amount i use in coffee gonna be a prob for anything? Then theres all the theories and research pointing the other way with soy, that it MAY help conditions like endo. It seems there not clear on its effect on hormones, that they think its an agonist/antagonist at the same time. So the talk seems similar to thoughts on cohosh, but like ive said, thats helped me. Im thinking the organic soy milk would be ok, that there are possible benefits/harm but its unknown, and i doubt the amount i would be having would be as harmful as the dioxins and inflammatory properties of milk. Does anyone have the almond milk in coffee??? This believe it or not is my main concern. Also, its nice to have just a warm cup of milk with a sweetner, but i dont find the alternatives cut it when it comes to things like that. I even question though that the toxins being referred to would be that much of a problem in milk, it seems more the other products like soy meats, soy yoghurts, cheese are more the targeted problem children, and of course that makes sense to me. I guess the question is, whats the process to make the milk? would it be likely to release nasty toxins? Hmmm, or do i think way to much on these things, hahhahaa
