I went to the my first appt yesterday. He felt my pulse and from that could tell a bunch of stuff about me. He knew I had endo and is familiar with it. He said that in Chinese medicine everything is a flow. Everything starts with digestion. He said that your digestion flows down, where mine is flowing up. Thus the headaches and constipation I get. He asked about clotting, how long my period lasts and other questions. He said that he could tell that my liver is congested as well as my gallbladder. He said he would try and give me relieve for my back. He stuck the needles in and no joke--my back instantly started to feel better. Within a few minutes though my liver started hurting so he then stuck a needle in my foot and it stopped. After the treatment my back felt a lot better. He felt that my back being so painful originated from all the inflammation in my abdomen area. He said he wanted to give me a three week supply of some herbal mixture to help with my endo. He said it would not be a quick fix because I've had this for so long. He also said once a cyst gets past 2cm there isn't much he can do. He said hopefully the treatment and the herbs together could shrink it a bit or slow it's growth. He was supportive of my surgery that I am most likely going to do with Redwine. The herbal mix I got is powder and I just add boiling water and drink it up twice a day on an empty stomach. He tested me on this machine thing first to see which herbs my body would respond best to. Funny enough, only a small percentage of them I was fine on! Anyway, I have another appt in three weeks. I'll keep updating. Personally if you think about it-- Chinese and Japanese medicine has been around for thousands of years. There has got to be something about it that works no matter how different it sounds to us westerners!!

I completely agree - the stuff has a proven track record, where as a lot of the stuff we're assured will 'work' has only been around for 10-30 years... Good luck, hope you see lasting results!!

I have done invitro 3 times this year. The first time I had 3 eggs, the second time I had 1 egg and then I started acupuncture and on the 3rd try I had 20 eggs! 10 fertilized which is pretty good. Although I didn't get pregnant on this 3rd try, at least I know that I have 8 frozen eggs and I won't have to go through all the needles and other prep I had to do before which irratated the endo. I really think that the acupuncture helped my body produce healthy eggs and it also helped to relieve some of my pain. I recommend acupuncture. Just keep your eyes closed, think of your happy place if you are scared of the needles. I always think "it's for a good cause". Be strong.

I'm really excited - when I go home at christmas there is a place my mom goes to and she's booked an apt for me. The lady is a chinese dr. and she does all the herbs etc. I'm booked for a 1 hour session, 30 minutes of acupuncture, and the rest of the time is split with massage and cupping. I'm excited to hear what she says. I'm not going to tell her initially about my endo and see what she picks up on the first look. I know obviously 1 time won't do much but at least I can see what it's all about and if I like acupuncture at all.

The acupunture appt I had yesterday was interesting. She literraly told me that my husbands homework is to rub each of my butt cheeks for 2 minutes before bed. This will help reduce inflammation in the pelvic area, hips and legs. It hurts but you do feel better later.

Katie - I'm not trying to give you false hope, but my best friend went through IVF about 6 years ago. She had 2 or 3 full rounds, with no success. Then she had some of the frozen embryos reimplanted. She now has 5 yr old twin boys (then got preggers naturally about 15 months later). Stay positive!

Thanks for the hope. It's never false! I can't get pregnant naturally as both of my tubes have been removed. My newest stress is, do I try IVF again or do I let my sister carry the baby. I am positive about this new TCM place though. She hit all the sore spots thats for sure. I feel like I have exhausted all avenues but The acupuncture did give me a whack load of eggs to select from so I will stay on the acu and endo diet road for awhile. Thanks for the support!

GOod luck katie! I bet you will be lucky next try. Just keep thinking positive, and do your homework, and get healthy with the endo diet - it's awesome! never hurts to be overall healthier right? I'm having loads of fun going to lots of PT and massages, doing my diet to the max, and generally detoxing and letting go of stressful situations and people in my life! I have another 5 weeks or so before we can TTC, but I'm counting the days! lol... never underestimate the power of your good intentions toward yourself!

Went to acupuncture yesterday which was good. The only part that I find annoying is that there is this part in my ankle where he always puts needles that just kills me. I told him that yesterday and he said that's because that spot is a very sensitive place for women who have any sort of gynecological issues. I thought that was really interesting.

I have heard that too about the ankle. My ankle always hurts for a day or two after. I will ask my accupunturist about that on Monday. It must be the endo packing up and moving out!

That is so funny because my acupuncturist said the same thing to me. He put the needle in my ankle and I had intense pain.

I went for my second acupuncture treatment yesterday and it was great! The healer (not sure if that is the correct terminology) told me that I must keep my feet warm because I have a cold uterus! Cold comes in from the feet and right up the legs to the uterus. Keeping your feet warm will reduce the pain. She recommends a foot soak in warm to hot water every night. She said if you watch tv, you can put your feet in a bucket. Also, she told me to keep massaging my butt cheeks before bedtime to ease the inflammation in the hips and pelvic area. Apparently the inflammation presses on the nerves which then causes pains down my legs. Makes sense. I had been massaging my butt every night, sometimes with the help of my husband, and you can feel something happening inside that area while you massage. Weird but I will do it. My advice? Get those feet warm and massage your butt daily!

Interesting about the cold feet - cold uterus. My feet are ALWAYS ALWAYS freezing cold, particularly this time of year. I'll even wear socks in the summer sometimes! Luckily, I have a space heater at work and at home to plop my feet in front of... Thanks for sharing, and good luck with your next few appointments! Besides the massage, are you noticing any changes yet? I know it can take a few sessions, but just curious as I know there are others that may be considering acupuncture.

I have noticed a different in my legs. I still have pain but its not as sharp...just kind of a nagging pain. I have only been rubbing my butt cheeks for a week so I'm pretty impressed that I have noticed a difference in such a short time.
