I'm glad you are seeing results Kristin. I just wish it didn't cause you so much pain. Hope you continue to see improvement. Hope acupuncture makes a difference for you as well Karen.

i don't think the acupuncture causes me pain--it exhausts me and makes me feel like i have the flu. and makes me really emotional. The ovulation pain is just me being me. I've had bad pain since last Sat, so I'm now on day 7 of ovulation hell. That really isn't normal, is it? What a ridiculous disease!
However, I am really proud of my day 13 ovulation. I feel like I should get prize or something. At least a t-shirt.

HAHAHA a T-shirt that says, "I ovulated and all I got was this lousy T-shirt!"
My ovulation is painful too but the pain only lasts for about 1 day. Actually, I'm ovulating now ;D All the signs are there!

I was thinking "Kiss me, I ovulated!". Cause I'm horny as hell BUT in a ton of pain, so I really don't think I can stand sex, even though I really want it.

I'm sorry I misunderstood you. Glad you are ovulating. That's awesome.

First time I've wondered over to the acupuncture thread. Kristin, I admire your perseverance after it kept affecting you like that. Day 13 ovulation, wow! I'm glad it is doing something for you; if only it wouldn't knock you out like that! Maybe now that it is having the desired effect the sessions will get easier next time? LOL @ the 'Kiss me, I ovulated" shirt! Hope the pain improves soon.
Karen, how do you stay still for 70 minutes?! I hope the session helps you.

I'm still hanging on to the acupuncture, because the regulation of the cycles is really fascinating to me, but it is just so damn hard.
Acupuncture or not, I have been in so much pain these past few months. I was actually trying to remember the last time I had a truly pain free day, and I think it was before the last time I got pregnant, 1.5 years ago. I really am convinced that this acupuncture will at some point start helping me with the pain also, and not keep making me feel like I got hit by a bus (physically and emotionally) in addition to the pain. But the bus is really a powerful bus!
I've talked to the doctor several times on why this keeps happening to me. She thinks that 1) I'm really, really sensitive to the acupuncture, which is good in some ways because my look! I'm ovulating normally but hard as far as tolerating it and 2) my reserves, of all sorts, are just completely depleted. It's funny--I don't feel depleted. I run a lot; I bike everywhere for transportation. I'm tired and in pain, and it takes a lot of determination to do these things, but still I can. I feel that if I were actually depleted like that, I woudln't be able to run and etc? I don't know.
Not sure where I'm going with this post, but anyway. I'm probably also a bit overwhelmed because I'm dreading tomorrow a bit. When I sent in my records to Dr. Belizan in Rockville, they moved up my appt and it's tomorrow. I just hope that whatever this squishy thing is on my right side is ok, and that I'm not completely full of endo all over again.

I've been going to acupuncture for about 2 months now. I STILL haven't had a period - am on day 135... I think my acupuncturist is baffled. We've tried several supplements and tonics and nothing. Every week, she asks me if I've gotten it and every week, she's shocked that I haven't yet.
Despite it, though, I'm still seeing some very slight changes. For one, I've been able to significantly reduce my pelvic pain with bio-identical progesterone. When I was on it, I'd feel little pain, and when I was off it, some of it would creep back in. I'm now taking progesterone two weeks on, two weeks off per my doc but I'm not feeling the niggling pelvic pain when I'm off it. For me, that's a sign that *something* is working. Overall, though, I'm really frustrated that more isn't happening. Going to see her is starting to cause a financial strain, and if I don't get anywhere in the next month, I may have to taper off.
I had a really odd experience last week. After she put a few needles in, I felt an overwhelming urge to cry. It was sudden. I was able to suppress the feeling for a bit, but as soon as she left the room, I just sobbed. I couldn't keep it in. It was such an overwhelming feeling. Afterward, when I told her about it, she suggested that perhaps that day's treatment was a bit too strong. I left feeling completely drained.

Karen, I'm sorry. I hope you are doing better today. This sounds so much like my experience of the acupuncture--it kills me, every time, physically and emotionally.
I really hope something gets you out of this 135 day stint soon.

Karen so sorry honey....I know crying is a huge drain and you want to feel good after acupuncture not cry. Sometimes tho a good cry is what we need to feel better....? Maybe that will work?

I found this interactive chart about acupuncture points and found it really interesting. www.qi-journal.com/AcuModel.asp I was only able to get it to work on Google Chrome and not internet explorer or firefox. Every now and then, a point will twitch or spasm ever so lightly and I'm always curious what the point does. Last time, it was a twitch on my calve. Looked it up and sure enough, it was irregular menses.

fascinating--you mean it twitches/spasms while the needles are in? or just while you're walking around?

Yup, while the needles are in. One point on my hand twitched the entire time I had it in - wasn't painful or anything, and it was very faint, but I felt it. I asked her afterward what it was and she said it was a point for your lungs. Funny thing, I was noticing some congestion and tightness that day and the day before. After that, it was gone.

Okay, i have my first acupuncture appointment tomorrow morning! i'm a little disappointed because it will not be done by the guy who runs the business, and is supposed to be really good :/ I talked to him and he knew a lot about endo and had a lot of experience treating it, but it turns out my insurance won't cover it, so i'm going to one of the group sessions there that his partner does (only $20 per session!!). He had a lot of good things to say about this other guy, so hopefully he will be just as knowledgeable! I'm also not excited about getting it in a group setting, but I can't afford the private option Oh well, hoping this works!!
