So the doctor changed me to the Nuvaring about 2 months ago. I absolutely love it except for the fact that theres so much more estrogen so i find myself crying for no reason haha. Kind of freaks my boyfriend out. For the last couple of days i have not been feeling like myself. I'm always exhausted, ive been having alot of headaches and migraines, recently my stomach has been so sensitive that if i eat even crackers it makes me feel nauseous, and my breasts are getting quite big (not a bad thing). All of this points to pregnancy but i took 2 pregnancy tests and they were negative and i just had my period about a week ago. What is going on with me??? I have never felt this way before. Is there a possibility that the tests were wrong??

It's the hormones during a pregnancy that give you the symtpoms, birth can control can 'mimic' pregnancy. If you've had a period it's unlikely the tests are wrong! If it doesn't settle soon then see your doc again.

I'd suggest going to your doc and getting a blood test. I have had several friends take many, many pregnancy tests that ended up negative, but they were pregnant. And they also had some bleeding which they thought was a period but wasn't. Chances are, if you're on BC and haven't goofed that in any way, you're fine, but if there's even the slightest chance and you're still feeling weird, best get it checked out. Could just be, too, that after a few months, your body is reacting to the BC in some weird way? Or perhaps it's something completely different!

When I got on the nuva ring, the first few months were like this until I got used to it. My poor boobs were so swollen and painful and I still kinda cry about things I never used to cry about before. I do like having the bigger boobies though! HAHA like you said, not a bad thing! My migraines are also a lot worse now too. I really blame it on the nuva ring. I gained about 15lbs but have since lost it. Stupid hormones. Aside from all that, i still swear by this ring thing. I feel 100x better with my endo symptoms and tons of relief from having horrible PMS.
How was your last period? Was it normal? (as in heavy, lighter than normal?)

The last period was really short and not bad at all. A friend of mine was on the Nuvaring when she got pregnant for her son so this makes me paranoid as well. Not to mention for 2 weeks i have been taking an antibiotic and with that worrying more about not getting a yeast infection and less about the fact that it screws with the birth control. I am considering going to get a blood test just to put my nerves at ease. Either way i will be happy, maybe more happy with baby because i'm not getting any younger haha.

OH crap. You were on antibiotics? You should really go get a blood test. If you are pregnant, you don't want to do harm to your baby by using the nuva ring. It would be a good thing to find out just to be safe.

And PLEASE contact your doctor before doing anything drastic like taking the ring out.
I really think you should have the blood test to be absolutely safe.

Yeah, the antiobiotics are a red flag. Better to be safe just to be sure!

I started nuva ring, and i will say that 4 months later i was pregnant. i started feeling sleepy a lot, hungry and had boobs get a cup size bigger out of no where, i took a pregnancy test and it was immediately positive. So i would be careful on this birth control, as i feel it doesn't do it's job very well lol, but deff. do a blood test just to be sure, but don't be too worried!

ah jenaya, Your so awesome. All these women on here freakin' out about fertility and you panic with anything that might mess with your birth control. I love it! I just thought something that could be mentioned that hasn't yet is that a rare amount of women can have menstruation during pregnancy. Its rare but it does happen. A friend of my sisters had bleeding for the whole nine months of her pregnancy. She did take a pregnancy test though and it was positive, which is different from your situation? she was pretty confused for a while and finally went to the doctor.

I'm so paranoid about getting pregnant. It is pretty bad. I just can't have a child right now. Everything in my life would change and I'm soooo not ready. It would strain my marriage even more than it already is, I would have to quit school, becoming a doctor forget it. I get really scared sometimes. It's just not for me. I'm sorry if I offend anyone about my opinions of having children. We're all different and I'm just on the extreme opposite of most normal women.
Edit: This is an extremely personal topic with me and I am not willing to talk about it here. I would appreciate if the focus switch back to the objective of this thread. Thanks.

I have other friends who are on Nuva Ring specifically for endo. I'll pass on that it may not be super effective for BC.... thanks

Is it really ineffective? Because all of the statistics I read say it's actually MORE effective because of the reduction in user error. I'm sure there are cases out there where women become pregnant while using this form of birth control but from what I understand, it's extremely rare and I'm not quiet sure we should discount this as an ineffective birth control just yet. If anyone is seeing their doctor soon as is using this, I'd be interested to see what a doctor thinks about this.
