I know I shouldn't touch caffeine, but it happens sometimes (for instance I drink kukicha twig tea - it's the most alkaline tea, supposedly, and has little caffeine)... and then I drink yerba mate tea which has mateine. Is this something I should be concerned about/could it be an endo side effect? I start to feel very weird and uncomfortable, waves of lightheadedness and dizziness which is very unsettling, even with a bit of nausea. I have this reaction since the fall of last year.

Funny you mention that... I'm not sure what mateine is, but I had to give up caffeine all together because I had the lightheaded/dizzy thing going on. It happened a few times but I refused to admit it was caffeine until I was in the car on the interstate going 70 miles an hour drinking a diet coke and I had to roll my windows down because I was afraid I was going to pass out. I don't know if it's specific to endo, but geez, after that scary experience, I was more than happy to cut it out of my diet.
If you feel weird and uncomfortable and you're able to pin-point it down to something, it's probably a sign that your body isn't happy with it!

OMG I can NOT drink Yerba Mate! It makes me feel really weird! I get extremely dizzy and nauseated. Probably the same reaction you get. Green tea does the same thing to me. I have no idea what it is but I avoid it. I have taken a liking to Earl Grey tea now. I am fine drinking that.
I say, if it makes you feel weird then that's your body telling you it isn't working out. I would avoid it.
