Hi everyone.
My gyn unofficially diagnosed me with endo in Sept, after having months of pain and problems. He put me on Loestrin 24, and I've been taking it continually for 3 months. It took awhile to work...and then I felt pretty good. And for the past week, the pain is back. Lower back pain, headaches, severe muscle pain, low grade fever, pain on my lower right side. Just a terrible and general feeling of malaise. It's horrible. Does anyone else experience these symptoms with endo? Maybe the Loestrin is not working anymore? Maybe I need a new BC pill? I don't know, I just feel terrible. Does endo occasionally have flare ups? I'm worried it's something else, since I never had the laprascopy (sp?) done, so I don't officially know. I don't know what to do. I have 5 papers due this week and I am graduating from college this semester and I feel awful. I can't get anything done with school. I am so depressed. I just want to feel better. I have an appt with my gyn on Wed, I guess I'll see what he says.
Thank you for reading.

Hello! I guess it's hard to say for sure unless you are diagnosed with a laproscopy. Pain can be from many things from cysts, fibroids etc. Unless you've had a lap it's just a guessing game. My best guess is if you've just been on the Loestrin 24 for 3 months it could still be your body getting used to it. I'd give it another month at least before switching. Have you tried taking advil or aleve? If not that might help. See what your doctor says on wed. Keep a journal of all your symptoms and take it to your apt so you don't forget anything. I hope you feel better! Keep us posted!!

Hey girl, sounds like the usual - they 'think' you have endo so put you on BCP to 'see' if it 'helps' lol. Are you able to have a lap to diagnose? wishing you luck on your finals. It would be hard for you to postpone them, again without a diagnosis, it's hard for a doctor to write you a note saying you're too ill to take the tests. I'm sending you good luck for that, it sounds like endo, but we're not doctors, so can't help much there. Hang in there!

Yes, endo issues can come in waves... Any chance you're close to your period? Or even if you're taking BC continiously, does your body at least think it should be close to your period? (Even if I skipped one, I still got all bloated and gross.) Any chance you're eating different foods recently? You'd be surprised the effect some foods can have on pain! If you're desperate for some relief so you can get by, try cutting out gluten and dairy for a few days. Those (among others) can be HUGE triggers, you might be able to get a bit of relief until you and your doc can figure some things out.
Good luck with finals!!!

Thank you so much for your responses! What I don't get is that the Loestrin was helping a lot for 2plus months, and now I feel awful! I don't know what to do. The doc seemed pretty convinced because of my symptoms. I don't know if I should do a lap - I'm kind of scared. I have to see what he says. I just feel awful. My head is pounding right now and I have lower back pain and some leg pain. The pelvic and right ovary pain is not as bad tonight, but it's still there. Yesterday it was worse in that region.
Chicagogal, I have been taking everything from tylenol to advil to motrin...I use heating pads, hot showers...nothing really helps. I went to the store and bought bengay for my extreme muscle aches and my sister was laughing because I bought it, but she has no idea how I feel.
Karen, I've been eating everything in sight due to the fact that I've been so depressed over how I have been feeling. I am supposed to get a period on Wednesday (that's when my last pill will be finished). I know I need to start eating better. I've been eating a lot of sweets and I know that's bad.
I just want to feel better!!! I am so depressed and worried.
Thank you for your responses, though. God bless.

Heyyyy okay I feel the need to chime in here. I've been getting cramping and terrible pressure in my belly this past week or so. I can't take ANY prescription pain drugs anymore...they make me hurl. But my grandma did get me some of this cream: Menstrual Comfort Cream with Cramp Bark from Emerita. Its a transdermal cream that you can rub on your belly and back that has menthol and some herbs in it to help numb and relax you and I tell you...its the only thing getting me thru the nights right now. The pressure is so intense that I pee about every half hour and I can hardly lay because its like someone's standing on me. I'll include a link to their website incase you are unable to find it anywhere. I haven't seen it in any stores I've ever been to. Emerita is a well known company for making bioidentical progesterone creams and they even have one that has some other oils and such in it just for period time called Progest Menstrual Relief. Hope you can find some relief emerita.com/products/pms/menstrual-comfort-cream/

I don't want to be a nag but you HAVE to limit certain foods, like wheat and dairy. Sweets also arent going to help you. Just cut out those inflammatory foods right now. You will feel such a difference. I know it's hard to make changes when you're already feeling like crap, however just talked with a lady the other day who said "did you know that some of the most experienced endo docs won't even work with women until they have been off wheat and dairy for 6 weeks?" This really stunned me, because it's like those docs are finally getting it. Yes, diet affects endo. In some cases I bet if the woman went off wheat dairy soy and red meats, her pain would decrease 99%. In my case only about 75% less pain, but that was enough so I could keep my job! You should REALLY do some homework on this, go to the store, and buy enough wheat-replacement items to get you through a week at home. I use rice crackers and rice noodes, corn tortillas and chips, and occasionally some wheat-free breads or pita or what have you. It's easy if you are prepared.... good luck!
