I have used a Diva Cup for two years now off and on. Unfortunately I can't use it anymore because it's painful. I can't use tampons either. I have hated using the plastic nasty disposable pads so I just bought a starter kit of Luna Pads. Healthier for you and the environment. Here is the link if anyone is interested. Have to confess, I also bought this stick you can use to pee out of from this website too. I figure it will allow me to pee standing up after my surgery!! I just ordered it all but will let you all know what I think when I use it. www.lunapads.com

A stick to pee out of just tickles me! If I can't use a tampon or in earlier days when I had continual spotting and wanted a break from them, I liked using those big fat cotton wool ones, fat enough to be close to your body and just pretty natural with all the wadding and cotton top. I also dislike the nasty plastic pads and panty liners. I have to buy the cheap stuff because it's usually the nice unfussy cotton ones. A former mod here made washable pads similar to luna pads, I wonder if she's taken it further they were cute.

I bought some cloth pads online (etsy.com) and LOVE them! I usually wear tampons with a heavy flow but always get a bit of dribble and love the liners - they do the trick and don't chafe like the throwaway kind. I only use store-bought liners if I'm traveling.
I checked out the website - looks like they have panties with sewn in protection? Awesome!! Might have to check those out!
(Oh, and I find that soaking them in oxi-clean and water after use and up until washing them usually does the trick!)

So tell me more about this diva cup? I've heard of it and know that they sell it at the hippie pharmacy, but haven't really done much digging around into it. Did you like it? Did you ever leak? Did you feel you had to empty it often? Usually my flows are ok enough that I don't have to change a tampon more than once while I'm at work, but every now and then I'll get a super heavy flow.

The Diva cup was awesome. I only had to change it every three or four hours during my heavy flow days and would go 6-8hours on lighter flow days. Never leaked. The only reason I stopped using it is because it made the pain worse with the cyst I have. I will prob go back to using it once I have the surgery. I will never use tampons again!!

Hmmm.... good to know. Might have to try it! I guess I was always just so used to tampons and pads being the only options for forever. Switching to cloth pads was such a welcome change, I'm surprised I didn't look into the diva cup sooner!
Thanks for the info!

I've been dying to try that cup thing. I'm just so surprised that it doesn't leak. How "far" do you have to put it up there? And I've also heard you can have sex with it in there? Is that true?
Personally I CAN NOT stand pads. I just can't do it. I'll use the light flow tampons for spotting. I absolutely refuse pads. They just give me the hee bee jee bees that I'm walking around with a blood soaked thing stuck between my legs. I just can't do it.

I'm on day 3 of trying it. I can't be used during sex (at least not the diva cup). It doesn't go that far up. I've had a tiny bit of leak through so far but suspect it's due to user error-it's a bit tricky at first! But so far I've only had to change it every 12 hours, and today I went without my usual liner as a back-up. Feels a WHoLE lot fresher than tampons!!

Cool Karen! Yes it's a bit tricky to get used to ensure it's fitted right but once you get used to it, it's a breeze and much better than tampons! I am looking forward to being able to use them once I get this darn cyst removed!!

Jenaya, absolutely can NOT have sex with it in. Like Karen said it doesn't go that far up. Once you get used to using it, it's a breeze!

Maybe I'm thinking of something else then. I had a friend tell me she used some cup thing and she could have sex with it in. I'm still so curious about this cup thing! So do you just take it out and rinse it every once in a while and put it back?

I'm going to have a look at this - tampons hurt me at the beginning of my period and so I use pads but I hate them, particularly as I double up on them putting one quite far forward and one far back because of rectal bleeding! I would more be worried on how to get the cup back out again...

WHY OH WHY did I try to show my husband this diva cup!? He was giggling like a friggin 14 year old boy asking silly questions. I finally gave up and said, "STOCKING STUFFER! That's all you need to know!" HAHA!
