Just saw an add on tv for this so I went to Lysteda.com Looks like it's non-hormonal and is used during a woman's cycle to decrease bleeding. It can be used for up to 5 days a cycle.
According to their website, common side effects include headache, sinus and nasal symptoms, back pain, abdominal pain, musculoskeletal pain, joint pain, muscle cramps, migraine, anemia, and fatigue. Hmm, doesn't sound too appealing to me! Those are a lot of the symptoms I'd get with a regular period anyway. Looks like the risks go up when on hormonal BC as well, and the suggest prescribing it with BC only when the potential benefits outweigh the potential increased risks.
The thing that cracks me up is that the FDA won't approve a drug unless it's for a specific condition. So, they've coined the term 'Heavy Menstrual Bleeding' as now a condition. Hmm, seems to me it's more of a symptom than a condition!

This is what my sister is taking. I think her last dose tho was last month she loved it when she was on it but the doc could only give it for a short time? Not sure why tho? He is pretty conservative with drugs for me and my sis that could be the reason.
