hi all
I am an 18 year old and found out I had endo about 2 years ago. I had it for about 6 months prior to that. Thankfully my mother and my doctor both took me seriously! At the moment, my pain is little and I don't take much pain killers. But I have read that tit often comes back even worse. I am moving off to college son so my stress will go up as well, causing Endo to get even worse. I have read a lot about the diets and what not. If I start the diet will it make my pain start up again since it is mostly gone now? Or will it not change and just slowly go away? I am very confused. I have also read that some have 'cured' them self of endo with diet but the n I have read that there is no cure. Is there or isn't there? The info out there is sooo confusing! Any help would be great. Thank you.

There isn't a cure, but changing your diet can really help. In some cases, I have heard of people who make their symptoms disappear mostly or completely by changing their diets. For instance, I heard of one woman who said she had no pain after she went vegetarian. It's true that eating little or no meat is a good idea for people with endometriosis, and would probably benefit anyone, but most people wouldn't find that their pain went away completely. Similarly, a friend of mine just told me that her girlfriend has had endometriosis for a long time, but reduced her symptoms to the point of it barely being a problem when she dropped sugar out of her diet. My suspicion in her case is that she probably has a candida problem as well because otherwise dropping sugar wouldn't likely have had that much of an impact, but that is another topic. The truth is that there is no cure for the disease. You can only learn to manage it, and changing your diet is one really good way to do that. I have never heard from someone who worked hard to change her diet and found it made no difference. I think it always helps if you do it right, but it depends on the individual as to how much it will help.
