This thread has been brought over from 'How Much Pain is Enough to go to Hospital' and was my response/update to the other girls on where I am at with my treatment. But a lot of you may be interested as it's quite a story.... Ok, so last week my Aunty Helin heard on the radio that there was a place in Auckland, (New Zealand) that could CURE endometriosis in 8 weeks or so. That's right. CURE. So she rang them up, spoke to the guy who started the clinic called Wellness at Work, Chris Toal and got so excited she rang me. I then rang Chris myself and became convinced enough to want to try. He uses natural therapies, a combination of deep tissue massage, and ancient healing methods from the Chinese, Aboriginal, Outer Pacific Islands and Indian philosophies. It sounded whack but like I said, I was ready to try. His biggest claim was that not only could he cure me but if he did not succeed I would get my money back in full. Their claim is No Change, No Charge. Chris also told me I would never need surgery again, and that I ought to cancel my appointments with the acupuncturist, and the gynaecologist. I was thinking, sheesh, this guy is cocky but for some reason I trusted him. When I wrote to you guys wondering how much pain is enough to go to hospital I thought I was at the end of my tether, but the next day it got worse. I rang Chris and said, look, I am in sooo much pain even the tramadol and voltaren is not making a dent. The next step is to throw codeine and morphine into the mix, which is what you do at hospital but he told me to take two tennis balls, set them on the ground about one tennis ball space apart, and lower my tummy onto them very gently in the area where I am experiencing pain. So I did. It was excruciating, but I lay there until the pain passed. That took maybe 4 minutes. It dimmed gradually until it was a very dull ache. I went to the bathroom and passed 4 huge bloodclots and within 20 minutes I was pain free and stayed that way until Monday when I went in for my appointment with him. How about that? Non-invasive, free, and effective. I didn't think I could fit all those words into one sentence with endometriosis in it too. So, instead of having the gynae appointment on Monday just gone I went to him instead. It was ridiculously painful, but he said the first session is the worst. It brought up all sorts of emotional stuff for me. Chris has identified that with women endo goes hand-in-hand with women who have been dancers, gymnasts or equestrians since a young age OR (as in my case) women who were sexually abused as youngsters. So you can imagine the fright I felt. His premise is that when you do any of those activities as a youngster, your body is not developed enough to cope physically and with your legs being pushed/manoevered apart because of those particular activities, your womb drops and the endo shoots out to stabilise the womb. This is what he calls a 'protective mechanism' which never gets 'switched off' so in the treatment what he is effectively doing is 'switching off' the protective mechanism and putting your body back to normal. What do you all think? Sorry it's such a long post, but there is so much to say about this treatment and as I am one session into the process I thought you girls might be interested in my progress. The treatment is sold all over the world, he has 50 countries using it. So who knows, if I have success that might encourage some of you to get out there and get some success for yourselves! Imagine no pain and no surgery!! Love Helinor.

First off, glad you're seeing results!
I'd be very cautious about anyone that says they can cure you. There is no cure for endo. But, that being said, there are many things out there that help women cope with it and help get their bodies back into balance. I hope that's his intention for you.
I also have to contest the theory that dancers, etc. or those that have been abused are the ones that get endo. I don't fit into any of those categories, and know many women than don't either.
But, as for using pressure points to help relieve pain and tension, I'm a huge believer in that. I've seen first hand what it can do, and I hope you see some relief from that as well.
I guess my take is be cautiously optimistic, and if your gut tells you something isn't right or your body reacts unfavorably, listen to your body. And keep us posted, k?

Hi Karen, Yeah I was skeptical too, especially with the word cure. Cure my a**. There is no cure. But then when I read the 'No Change, No Charge' I felt prepared to listen and when he advised me on the tennis ball therapy and I saw immediate results I felt even more inclined to go along. I'm still cautious and am very nervous of anyone who would claim to cure. It's hard enough to go in for surgery knowing the results are iffy and then having a bad outcome. I think if I put too much faith in this and have a negative outcome I will be devastated. It is sooo hard to know how to deal with this all. And the concept of having no pain at all afterwards is scary! I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the outcome is. The website is www.wellnessatwork.co.nz and the site itself isn't terribly comprehensive but speaking to them/emailing was very informative. I'm still backing it up with the naturopathic and homeopathic remedies. One thing he speaks of is myofascial therapy and the need to cut out the use of hot water bottles and hot showers as it compromises the fascia we all have in our bodies. That's an interesting thing to learn about. I'll keep you posted. I'm thinking about blogging about the whole journey. Thanks heaps Karen, for your level-headedness. I really value that. H. x

I'm ALL about myofascial therapy! For me, it was a HUGE, HUGE release! When my PT would be working on one side of my pelvis, I could feel things 'popping' (but in a good way!) on the completely other side of my pelvis. It was an incredible feeling!
I get what you mean about putting all your hopes on this, and would caution you, but would also encourage you to keep an open mind. Any improvement, particularly if your body responds positively to it, is a huge improvement! Blog away, I think we're all interested to see where this will take you!

Hey I'm glad you're getting help! I agree with Karen, just be optimistically cautious.
I also don't fall into the categories of dancer, gymnist, equestrian, or sexually abused so I'm not really buyin that one.
I do like the pressure points and things like that! I bought a yoga block recently and I place it under my lower back and bend backwards. At first it feels like my uterus is being ripped in half but if I can tolerate it long enough, I wont have any cramps for the rest of the day after I've done that stretch.
But keep us updated on your progress. This is interesting!

Glad it is helping and if it does stick with it. I am do not fall in the categories either and have seen one of the top docs in the country for endo and have never heard those as a reason for endo. I will check out his site tho I am interested and I wonder why he thinks that is the cause of endo? Hmmm just curious. Please keep us updated on here would love to hear all about it:)

Helinor, super interested in your journey here, way to go out there and try something! it's odd that he claims to cure endo, but who knows, maybe he has in some cases? interested in knowing how many people he has 'cured' and details. Interesting!
