I got a call on friday that they are checking my references and if everything checks out then I will get a provisional job offer on tuesday or wednesday. This will be my first big job in 12 years as I have been self employed as a music teacher. Its a CNA or certified Nursing Assistant. I'm still teaching music but I'm trying to get into the nursing program next fall so I want to get as much experience as I can. I have had a little experience with nurses. Some amazing ones (like the one who stood up to the doctor and told him she refused to do a treatment that was causing me extreme pain) and some bad ones. BUT mostly good ones. I had this idea when I spent four days in the hospital with my youngest. The cna there was so great and her and I got to know each other and she just loved her job, you could tell. It got me thinking. Since I'm trying to make some pretty big changes in my life this is the beginning! I'm so excited. So anyways here is my "hire me" pose. I wore this to the interview. Its my second hand suit I got for a dollar. DO I look hireable??

Hey thats cool! Several of my friends are CNA's or working on becoming one. And another one of my friends is almost done with PT school. And when i get home from Costa Rica I am going to take a class for Physical Therapy Aide and to become a librarian cataloger. Two very different things, I know. But I already work at the library and our cataloger is looking to retire by spring, and I love my coworkers. You couldn't get a better bunch of people to work with, and they are really supportive about my endo too! (an obvious plus when the disease isn't going anywhere). And I would love to do something medical on the side, and the PTA course is only 80 bucks and its online! Can't beat that

so I managed to convince the hospital to hire me, got my references to check out... Went through two separate interviews... that was all the hard stuff right? Turns out I will probably not get the job since My license is taking so long to get here. *sigh* I just can't win for losing. I mean really! I smoke the interviews, and convince them I'm hire-able even with my limited experience and I'm going to lose the job. I can't help it, I needed to whine slightly.

You applied to the job without the license?

Its kind of hard to explain. The license was supposed to be here before the job. They employers knew it was coming. Its on the website as pending. There was a screw up at the licensing that set me back 4-6 weeks. I took the CNA test in June and sent my stuff in right away now its sept. and its still not done. Dept of health can be hard to work with! I asked at the first interview If I needed to wait and they said no as long as its coming, we both however didn't realize it was going to take an additional 2-4 weeks now to come so...? Does that make any sense?

I think so. But what does "pending" mean?

hmm... I wish I knew!? Pending means that they have it, but they haven't fully reviewed it yet and when I asked for a time frame very politely (because if you p*ss of the dept. of health they will stick your app. on the bottom of the pile) they said a possible 2-4 more weeks. It also means that its registering on the website that they have it. Other then that I don't really know what pending means. Oh well...! I still have Drama class that I'm teaching music for two days a week, Piano lessons for three students and My music and biology class I'm teaching for a local homeschool group once a week. I'm just trying to keep busy (and out of trouble)

So a week later its now listed as active! I have been checking every day. I left a message with the floor supervisor (who does the hiring) and now I cross my fingers and wait... good thing I'm busy the rest of the day!

Have to tell you this story: After applying for every freaking office job in town all summer long around september of last year I applied at the place I work now. They didn't call me at all and 3 months later I got a manicurists license and started doing nails in a friend's salon, then in DECEMBER I got a call from this place "Hi, we created a new position and have your resume on file from September - are you interested?" Of course I said yes, since they offer full benefits.... then another interview, wait 2 weeks, another interview, all the while I'm thinking "they called me, they must want me" then after the "final" interview i waited.... and waited..... started thinking they must have hired someone else, of course I called a few times to check in, kept hearing "our CEO is out of town, we can't make a decision until she returns" and I'm thinking yeah right, you just don't want to tell me no! then finally, I was about to sign on at the salon full time, put down a deposit, everything, and I went to the grocery store to buy a carrot juice (of all things) and the lady who had interviewed me originally came up behind me and offered me the job. She was all like "oh, I called you but you didn't answer! Don't you want the job?" all concerned. I was laughing because she had called me from her cell, and I was sitting staring at the phone and DIDNT ANSWER because I was expecting her to call from work and I didn't recognize the number....
Anyhow long story short, i probably had the job right from my first interview. You just never know what can hold something like this up. And me I was all "oh, they didn't like me, they just don't know how to tell me...." and also "those bit&hes, they should have called me by now, screw them" but now that I work here, i see that it does take forever for stuff to go through! Anyhow, I think you're going to get the job! Good luck! and try to have some fun, cause here in a bit you're going to have to work all day so you better have some fun now while you can! love, Pretty

I got my official provisional job offer from Midvalley!! Yeah, so very excited to get started. Its provisional because I of course have to take a blood test and TB test etc... before I start. I spent the weekend making scurb shirts and a black pair of scrub pants. So I have three whole scrub shirts to my name! Woo hoo...! For the next three months I'm going to be crazy, crazy busy. I have college two days a week, drama two days a week and evenings and I still have to make sure and get my kids school (homeschool) done as well. BUT I'm so happy to be working and busy. Its a great feeling.

;D 1st day of work will be wednesday! I have to work full time for three weeks until I have done five days on each shift. Its a little unexpected but at least I get payed for it and it will be a nice little bonus. (christmas presents!) Once I have completed the five days of each shift, days 7-3, evenings 3-11 and nights 11-7 then I will be able to name my schedule. Its going to take some serious adjustments. I actually dropped one of my college classes that I was taking because it just seemed like to much! Its only three weeks though... I can do it!! My hubby is so excited too that I'm doing this!
