I understand that it is *normal* to have breakthrough bleeding on the pill, but what does it signify, if anything?
Does it mean that my next period won't be so bad?
Does it mean that my periods will finally end?
Does anyone know why this actually happens?
Has anyone else had experience with this and can tell me what I might expect?
I started a progesterone only pill in early May. After 2 full cycles, and my last period (which started on June 25), I started bleeding again last weekend - 15 days after the start of my last period. My OBGYN says its normal.
Thank you so much!

I did a quick search and it sounds like mid-cycle bleeding is a sign of hormonal imbalance (low estrogen) when not on birth control, and when on birth control, it's your body adjusting to it (although there wasn't much info). One website suggested that if you're having bleeding while on BC, it may indicate that it's not a proper dose for you, although I'd certainly give it a few months for your body to adjust. Another suggestion (WebMD) suggested taking the pill at the same exact time every day. I don't think it's indicative of your period as I've had break-through bleeding and then had a gusher of a period a few weeks later.
Whatever the case, it's not fun and I hope it gets better for you soon!

I took a progestin only pill (the mini-pill) for 6 months. It was called Nora-be. My first period on it was early (like day 20) and lasted 10 days. (usually it's 5 days) Then after that I got my period (or bleeding rather) every 2 weeks for 6 months. It was much, much lighter than normal, so more like spotting but I couldn't tell a difference between what might be spotting and what was my period. So I just considered it as a period every 2 weeks. But like I said it was really light too, so although annoying, not totally awful. I did have minor cramping every bleeding episode too. I finally just stopped taking it. I didn't have endo pains anymore though, while on it and after that for a few years, so I guess it did what it was supposed to.
