Ok.........I'm gonna go there...I'm going to talk about the World Cup. Anybody else getting into it? England aren't doing so well at the moment However, what's amusing me is that there's a Japanese player called 'Endo'.

Sorry, nope... I'm clueless!
(But having a player named Endo must make you do a double-take every time, huh?)

haha I was gonna make a world cup thread. Dang Helen you'd be so disappointed at how little the US follows the world cup. I do have a few friends that are SUPER into it but it's not like other countries where this is a HUUUGGEE deal. I love the world cup. As I recall... didn't we beat you Brits? HAHAHAHAA!

Uh uh Jenaya we drew , and it's English btw! There are many many Scots who campaign for ABE - Anyone But England to win, they literally support whichever team plays opposite us. Even the Welsh and Irish are in on it. It's banter but Chris Moyles (a borderline arsehole DJ) has a point, it's blatant and accepted racism and is funny only to a point. I wish we could say us Brits, we certainly do when it comes to tennis and golf. Helen I logged in yesterday to reply to this and got completely sidetracked! I have loved watching the football, seeing the underdogs rising even if means they have taught our lacklustre side a lesson in humiliation. Been lovely seeing how different people can look and still be beautiful to the eye. You know, besides other stuff.

Oh goodness.... dumb American... haha, ok you English! haha. I think we take on Algeria next. I'm starting to think the world hates us and wants us to loose.

Same with the UK in Eurovision, the rest of Europe hates us, essentially. We have to stick together in politics and play nice with sharing our football players, so they vote out of the very kitsch and yucky Eurovision song contest. It still hurts, haha. Considering I'm watching the matches, I'm not quite following who moves to the next stage, I just know England is doing badly even without losing. Too much of a good thing = complacency and a team that just doesn't play 'together'. The only other team I can support for the sake of family ties is Brazil... not all bad!

Their egos are too big cherry. Get paid way too much money for running round the pitch a couple of hours a week. Premiership's gone to their heads man. How did the Algeria v US match go? I missed it. Our Algeria game was APPALLING!!!! Jenaya - it's a fairly united consensus that if the US took football (as in the proper version :-) ) seriously, they'd be awesome.

Surprisingly the US isn't doing all that bad! HAHA And I think we have the potential to do very well. This country is full of phenominal athletes. It's a shame soccer(football) isn't taken more seriously here. It's a badass sport!

Grrr. That word! Tonight's games will tell us who we're playing in the next round. Bring it on! Jenaya it's one of the most skilful games I think. Given the size of the US, if it were taken seriously they'd probably be one of the best teams in the world. If you continue to do well hopefully the US will take more of an interest. Although the thought of that scares me a little bit. I kinda like that you're not interested.....

My sister, who was born and raised in America, and moved to England 3 years ago when she married her husband (born and raised in England) is VERY into "footie" as she calls it. She actually made a comment about how America has no clue what footie actually is (she's kind of an england snob now). So I e-mailed her today about how America is a doing in the World Cup and she didn't have too much to say about it. So I'm rooting for America to at least make it further than England. GO AMERICA!!

Never gonna happen Liz! One of the things that can carry a team through is its country's support!
