SO...I don't know if I'm late or not, I don't track my periods (I should). Lately I've felt like my chest is getting a bit bigger, and my tummy is bloated. I've had some very mild cramping on and off for the last 3 days. I was laying around and my boyfriend actually commented about how my boobs look big. I'm also starting to feel a bit nauseus.
I'm either just due to get my period or I'm late. When I got pregnant with my son, My chest grew, I had what I thought were cramps, but were ligament pains, and I was sick to my stomach.
The problem, I've got an IUD. I know logically that I'm probably not because they are over 99% effective, but I'm not so sure anymore.
Anyone on here ever get pregnant while having an IUD, or know anyone that did?

I don't mean to scare you, but a former coworker was on Mirena and had a scare (turns out she wasn't), and when she did a quick search, turns out there were a lot of similar instances. Mirena doesn't necessary stop ovulation - you can still ovulate, which means you can still get pregnant, but I believe the progesterone keeps the uterine lining so thin that it's unlikely a fertilized egg would stick, and it changes your cervical fluid so it's less likely for sperm to survive. If I remember correctly, there's a higher risk of ectopic pregnancy with IUD. It's been a while since I read up on this so please double check.
Have you taken a test? Again, don't mean to scare you but it's best to get it checked out!

Lizzylou, I went through all the same symptoms, breasts were sore and were visibly bigger, nausea, sensitive nose, sensitive moods, sex drive had skyrocketed as had my appetite! I knew I was late because my sister's period had been and gone (we live together) and I was very lightly pink in spotting, no full period as was expected. My friend warned me, as Karen warns you, that pregnancy, especially ectopic, is known with Mirena. I did a pregnancy test once a week for 3 weeks to be safe and luckily I wasn't (my relationship was on it's last legs, could have been very unpleasant) Do a test to put your mind at ease. My bf didn't like condoms so for me the easiest thing was to have a pack of tests on hand for any scares. (You can get packs of 25 little sticks on eBay super cheap, same as the ones used at your doctor's surgery. Just look for the good sellers who deal in medical supplies and 100% feedback, no less)

Good thinking on the multi-pack tests! I definatly know about the ovulation because I've been having ruptured ovarian cysts every month on my right side since I had my left ovary removed last fall. I also know about the ectopic pregnancies. But don't you think I'd hadve a ton of pain first? I haven't taken a test, and honestly I don't know how I'd feel if it came out positive. Having an IUD, obviously we're not planning for one. Although we have enough room, we're getting married next year, we'd be able to afford it.... I'm just afraid my fiance might high-tail it to Canada!!! We have a ton of stuff going on in our lives in the next year or two so it wouldn't be the best timing. I think If I still haven't gotten my period by my lunch, I'll go and buy a test. Check for updates tonight!

According to Clear Blue Easy, I am NOT PREGNANT.
And in the last half hour or so I've started major cramping. Yup....there's the awful pain known as my period. *sigh*

haha, thats the exact noise I made when I saw the test! I want another baby so badly, and I would love to be pregnant, I wouldn't have been sad, but it was just not the right time right now.

The same thing happened with me, I was doing the tests, then after the 3rd I was back to the Niagara Falls action. Relief. I know you want a baby but I've always wondered how it's dealt with if a woman gets pregnant on the Mirena? All things considered, it's for the best let us know when you're ready and trying and we'll send you some epic baby making vibes!

From what I gathered online, the check the placement of the baby and if it's in an ok spot, they remove the Mirena. There is a major chance of an eptopic (bad since I only have one tube left), also a big chance of what they call a "spontaneous abortion" one the Mirena is removed. If left in, there can be major problems for the mom an the fetus. SO....Phew!

The spontaneous abortion thing doesn't surprise me, the cramps when a mirena is place or removed are horrible so I can imagine it could too easily turn into something else if you're pregnant when it's removed.
