I have a question...or 2
For the past 2 months i have had a swollen lymph node in my neck. Not until today did they decide they are finally going to send me for an ultrasound on it.
For the past 4.5 weeks, i have been sufferring from severe chest pain which my doc at first said was my anxiety. I have been back on my pills for that long enough to know that IS NOT what it is. My doc listened to my heart and lungs and said they are perfectly normal however, she is sending me for blood work to check my thyroid and cholesterol. She is also doing an ECG to rule out any heart issues. My chest pain is mainly on my left side and can form a big C going from above my breast to just below it but also appears on the right side sometimes. Doc said it is probably acid reflux and now has me on a strict diet with no caffeine, no chocolate, no fatty/greasy foods etc.
What im wondering is, has anyone else had these chest pains before as bad as i have descibed, tried eliminating what im told to and it actually worked?

I haven't had chest pains like that before, but if I were you, I'd try the elimination diet to see if it makes a difference. I was surprised at what eliminating certain foods did for my endo pain, and am a firm believer now that although it may not solve the problems, it may at least help you manage it a lot better. Glad you're getting things checked out, though.
Any chance one of your meds is to blame for the pain? Are you on anything new?

Pam I had terrible chest pain just before and after my laparoscopy and it recurs sometimes now, it was serious enough that I was given an ECG on the spot when I described the pain and had an 'attack' right in front of the nurse. I was convinced that I had endo in my chest cavity. Sound so silly now but it was so possible to me and my GP at the time. The ECG was fine, so they surmised that as I was depressed, I was having anxiety attacks (I wasn't) and my lap was only done on my abdomen, they didn't find any up high in my abdomen so decided not to stick a camera in my chest (thankfully) It turned out that my pain was acid reflux getting into my lungs. It was due to my taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. And that was pretty bad pain, on a par with endo pain. I was only having the pain during endo pain times because the endo stressed me out and caused the acid to flare up and give me chest pains. This pain was left of centre and also under my arm on my right most notably. Do they have you on stomach tablets too like omeprazole? That slowly but surely fixed my problem. I didn't know that anti-depressants can cause damage to the stomach too.

My doc strongly believes that it is acid reflux and as of yesterday has me back on Nexium. The doc put me on a strict diet...no fatty/greasy foods, no chocolate, no coffee(decaf only), no pop etc. I have extremely bad eating habits and fruit and veggies are something i eat rarely. She told me to take the nexium, restrict my diet and if it is acid reflux i should notice a difference within a few days. I really hope so cause i hate living with this pain. The endo pain is gone as i had adenomyosis which is endo of the uterus and with that no longer being in my body, i have no pain.

Pam I've had chest pain on and off over the years, and been through umpteen ECGs/Echos/Exercise tests/Ultrasounds. One occasion I had a palpitation so bad and so severe it woke me up in the middle of the night and I though I was about to die! All the tests I had were clear............cardiologist put it down to....you guessed it....stomach problems. Took the meds and it was much improved. I go through phases of almost permanent heartburn, and I take NSAIDs a lot (Nurofen is my wonderdrug) but if I eat well and limit alcohol, it stays away, as does the chest pain.

That's certainly a good start! Are you sure your extra-curricular activities last night didn't trigger the relief? Kidding, kidding...

Alright! Nexium is, in fact, the shiznit. Glad that and the godawful diet are working out. I can eat almost anything with the Nexium, but there are still some things I have to stay away from, quite often, like tomato sauce, Italian sausage, breakfast sausage, green bell peppers, and raw yellow or white onions. Oh, and I would avoid getting full, less than three hours before bedtime. I heard that broccoli is supposed to be really good for your belly, too, so steam some of that or eat it raw, if you like broccoli. Oh, you might avoid certain fruit juices. Cranberry is really good for you, but don't drink too much of it, if you can avoid it, if it's the red kind. White cranberry is okay (though it doesn't taste as good), and apple is good. Grape can be killer, but not white grape. Grapefruit it also killer. Orange juice is very terrible, but okay, if you have it in mimosas.
Just some tips from the Queen of Heartburn.

Thank you sunshine. I can use all the help i can get with this as my usual diet consists of eating whatever i can grab or order through a drive thru. I do in fact love broccolli so i will go get some today. I made the mistake last night of getting a French Vanilla Cappuccino before my sons hockey game and i definately paid for it. Maybe i should wait a week or so before rewarding myself.

I can so relate. I went to the Er due to this one night and he told me it was anxiety aswell. That is so wrong. Over the last month mine has gotton worse to the point of my chest hurting so bad aswell for me its mainly my breasts . They have never hurt this bad for this long. And the more research I do the more upset I get. It appears that this can cause pain almost everywhere. I personally havent found anything for the pain other than a hot bath and a heating pad. But I just wanted you to know that yes I do understand what you are going through. Your in my thoughgts and Prayers.
