Gem, that costume is fantastic.
And Jenaya, you could have totally rocked the black swan makeup. I am so glad I'm done with stage makeup though! It was so hard to find stage makeup that would work on a redhead. I'm too pale. It just looked goofy.

I think you should paint and go out, even for an hour or so. Its very helpful. Clears the mind! ;D

I have just not been feeling it this year, and I normally love Halloween. Last year I wore a fairy outfit that I put together with a dress I have, a corset, some tall socks and gauntlets and makeup. This year I am nothing. I bought a pumpkin, still haven't carved it. Was planning on carving it today, then we had a bunny emergency. I bought a small pumpkin for Sam and painted that, he has it at work--that's about all I've done. I don't even have a good idea for carving my pumpkin, I'm just going to use one of the generic faces from the game we play (World of Warcraft). So lame.
Reading this thread has got me a little excited about it, but we still don't have money to buy candy or costume stuff, and nowhere to go if we did get dressed up. I spent a whole FOUR DOLLARS on the pumpkins, woot.

best costumes can often be something thought up quick with little or no money. Its not to late to treat yourself to some fun times and let down the hair so to speak

Yeh, but I have nowhere to go! We live in a very rural area and we don't really know anyone (well, very few people and no one that has Halloween parties). Kinda sad... we've been here almost three years. Most of our friends are back home in VA or online.

Heather- I'm with you, this year is just off. My town usually does trick or treat the night before Halloween but with the snow and power outages they postponed to Weds. I had painted three pumpkins with trick, or, and treat, but "trick" pumpkin went bad and imploded, so we've only had "or treat" on the stoop for a week!! It is pretty funny, really. I think next year I'll have to put more effort in- maybe you could throw your own party. Oh yeah, my favorite fake out instead of carving is using Mr. Potato Head parts to decorate a pumpkin. Now I feel more excited...

Well, I carved my pumpkin today! I was trying to use as much as I could and not let anything go to waste, so I carved it freehand. Since there's no marker on any of it, I chopped up the cut outs and will feed them to the bunnies. I'm sure they'll appreciate the treat. Then I toasted the seeds for Sam, but they got burnt. =( The strings and pulp will go into compost.
Semi, where in NH are you? I'm in VT.

I'm toward the seacoast, we only got 6 inches in the storm but the weight of it plus wind knocked down a ton of trees & power. What part of VT are you in? A squirrel enjoyed my mini pumpkin, I'm sure the bunnies will too!

I grew up in Va. Beach, lived in Richmond for a year, Poquoson for a year, and York Co. for a year before moving to the Frozen North. I'm tired of the snow and want to go home!

I bet. I spent about 6 years in the frozen north (Massachusetts and NYC). Still would like to be further south than DC...
I was born in North Carolina, but moved to Farmville, VA when I was 4 and was raised there. My husband is from Colonial Heights. I love southern VA.

I have a funny story about Farmville... my cousin went to school there. While I was at school in Richmond, I drove down to visit her one weekend (and see a free Violent Femmes concert). My parents live in southern Va. Beach, very few street lights and very rural (for Tidewater, anyway). My cousin and I were driving somewhere in Farmville and I got pulled over for not having my lights on at night. I totally forgot to turn them on because I could see fine!

I've been quiet this Hallowe'en too. Will do more next year! I'd adore to be in the States for it at some point!
