K. The year was 1998. I had just had my nose and chin reconstructively (nose) and cosmetically (chin) "fixed." LOL! It was supposed to have been out-patient surgery, but I wound up in a really bad way (i.e. ...read "it went wrong...." and the hospital bill "somehow" got paid for me? ?), and was admitted to the hospital for 5-days. The pain killer...shots and shots and shots of morphine. Right in my bum. Well, plus percocet and vicodin, over, and over, and over. I was itching like nobody's business. I saw spiders coming out of the walls and my arms, which I scratched all to hell trying to dig the spiders out. The morphine made me mean. I am atheist. I had this done in a Catholic hospital as that was my only option. I put on my paper that I did NOT want anyone to come pray for me. But sure enough, a nun came to pray. She thoght I'd been in a bad car accident because of how bruised, swollen, and bloody (including what looked like wet blood in my eye?!?) I was. I guess the cast and bandages didn't help, either. LOL! Anyway, my jaw was pretty much wired shut with the cast and bandages, so I had to do a vantrilloquist (spelling?) act just to talk. I was trying my best to yell, "Please get out. Please stop," but no one could hear me. Finally, I just started kicking at her. LOL! She finally left, but only after my mom apologized for my behavior. I feel bad about it to this day. I would never try to kick someone unless it were out of self-defense.

^I think it was more out of annoyance and being mean from the narcotics! LOL! No matter how much pain I could be in, I'd never do that to anyone! I finally quit taking the pain meds and just roughed it out. I felt a lot better not to be so doped!

Isn't that the truth! These days the narcs are making me so dizzy and sick to my stomach so bad that I'm weighing whether the pain is bad enough to warrant the side effects. I have to be hurting so bad that I can't talk to take anything and then I spend the day in bed.
ps. Sorry scarlett we seem to have hi-jacked your thread. I hope you recover well from baby and just enjoy these next couple of weeks!

Thanks folks - sorry, my laptop died so I haven't been able to get back here for a while! Thanks for all your thoughts and good wishes. (one point though, I actually wasn't in labour for only 8 hours - I wish!! It was nearly 24 hours in total. I was stuck at 1cm for about 8 hours!!!)

unforutentely... if there was no progress the labor was non- progressive contractions. A problem I had with my second. I may have been in labor for 35 hours but my body wasn't actually doing anything except hurting. LOL
