I'm 9 weeks along. Yesterday morning, I had a little red spotting, so I went to the ob. and everything looked fine - heart was beating, looked healthy. Then today about midday, I suddenly had bright red blood coming out, and since then, lighter reddish-brown consistently. That's been going on for 6 hours now. I'm not in any pain. I spoke to the ob, who told me to rest, and I'm going to see him tomorrow. But I thought I'd ask over here too. Anyone else experienced this?

I've had a couple friends who had what you are describing and went on to have healthy babies. I've also had another friend who had what you are describing and had a miscarriage.
Just keep going to the doctor and checking the heartbeat, etc.
Good luck. My fingers are crossed for you!

Prayers are with you, hope all turns out well. My friend's mum had periods right the way through the pregnancy. Jenny's mental health does leave something to be desired but I don't think that's anything to do with when she was in-utero

You know, I don't feel upset by this. I just want to know what's going on. This morning the light reddish-brown bleeding is continuing, and since last night I've been seeing very small clots as well. I hope that's not tmi, but is it still a clot if it's small? Like I said, it's been more or less constant.
I'm not feeling sentimental. If this is a miscarriage, it very likely means that the fetus isn't healthy, or that my body isn't healthy in some way. I'm going to the ob. in a couple of hours, and hopefully I will know more soon.
Is it still a miscarriage if there's no pain, and there are small bits of tissue coming out?

My friend who did have the miscarriage described clots. The others just had bleeding. She said some of the clots she had to wipe off with toilet paper as they didn't just drip out.
Please make sure he checks your progesterone and hcg!

my sister had a miscarriage and she had a lot of bleeding with a lot of clots. A friend of mine also had a miscarriage and described large clots with lots of cramping. Ive also heard that a little spotting is normal as well, so make sure you call your doctor!

Hi lDancer, I'm 9 weeks pregnant too and although I haven't had bleeding I've had bad cramps a few weeks ago. I was told it's quite common in the first trimester to get bleeding OR cramps. I was told to go back to my Dr if I got BOTH at the same time, as these two together can be a sign of threatened miscarriage. I hope that helps. Fingers crossed for you

When I was pregnant with my son I bleed my entire pregnancy I was very high risk. I had a condition called Placenta Previa here is a little back round on the condition. Early in pregnancy, the placenta may implant in the lower part of the uterus. As the uterus grows, the placenta usually moves up and away from the opening of the uterus (cervix). If it doesn't, the cervix may be blocked. I had mine my entire time I was pregnant sometimes I would spot brownish red and other times it was bright red. My placenta never moved so I had a c-section to prevent any harm to me or my son. If you are bleeding let your Dr. know ASAP this condition is very dangerous and if you have it you will likely be on bed rest until the placenta moves. A ultra sound can detect this I had 5 while I was pregnant it was the only way to monitor the health of my son I loved seeing him grow each time I went in for the ultra sound. Amazing how a little penut turns into a baby. Good luck! Please keep us all posted.

The doc said that there's probably a very small separation in the placenta, but that it is not placenta previa, which he said is not a 1st trimester condition. The baby is fine, and was waving its nubbins around yesterday, probably pissed off about having yet another ultrasound thrown at its developing ears.
I was told to rest, which isn't bad advice, but that was also delivered with a bunch of non-answers about physical activity, and the beginning of a spiel about "pregnant women often fear loss of control". I cut him off and made it clear that I have professional obligations that demand answers. In other words, I have two choreographers, a bunch of students, and a restaurant owner who all expect me to be dancing, and if I can't, they need to know. God, spare me the freaking lectures. I need to find a doctor who knows about exercise.
But, to be fair, I wasn't told to go on bed rest, which is good. You might as well induce a goddamned coma. I need to move or I lose my mind. So I interpret "rest" as "take long walks in the park".
I feel fine! I think there's too much emphasis placed on rest for pregnant women. We're not made of glass.

Glad to hear it is not Placenta Previa! Bedrest is the only thing you can do for that it is rough as soon as I had my son I was back to work pt in 2 weeks I was so sick of being at home my entire pregnancy I could not wait to have a life! LOL I like the we're not made of glass comment. Funny story when I was pregnant with my son I went into get my teeth cleaned and the dentist asked how the pregnancy was and I told him of my condition he would not tilt me back to clean my teeth and actually had come back after I had Jacob he said it was a risk. I felt that was extreme:) My Obgyn also had a wheel chair orderd for me. I used it once! Goodluck:)

he would not tilt me back to clean my teeth and actually had come back after I had Jacob he said it was a risk. I felt that was extreme:) This is actually for the same reason you're not supposed to sleep on your back while pregnant. It cuts off oxygen and bloodflow to the placenta....
