Hi there ,
I'm interested to know how many other women with diagnosed Endometriosis also have atopic eczema which tends to be worse around the time of Endometriosis being particularly troublesome or worsening.
By this, I don't necessarily mean cyclical eczema (for example, worse just before periods).
I had mild infantile eczema. It went away at age 2 and reappeared severely at age 17. Since then it has spread and worsened.
My endo problems also reared their head when I was 16/17, but I was not diagnosed until age 30.
My endo pain is non-cyclical. The eczema, too, is non-cyclical. The shared features of both are extensive inflammation.
.................................................................................................................
[If you've got this far, great. You don't have to read or respond to the next bit!]
I do know I have allergies to all sorts of substances and chemicals, which irritate the skin. I know pretty much which triggers to avoid, but some just can't be controlled.
Suffice to say that at the moment I'm wearing nothing but organic cotton, almost live in rollneck sweaters, have to have cotton gloves on overnight, am constantly covered in different steroid and plant based creams, losing a great deal of sleep and sanity from intense burning, itching and skin pain, half-doped up on antihistamines and having to choose between taking opiate meds for endo pain which space me out, or antihistamines for the itching/burning, which also knock me out: during the day, using both would make me a complete liability in my position at work!
It has been 18 months since my last excision surgery for endo. I have no idea what my insides look like at this point...only how they feel. Eczema, obviously tells its story obviously on the outside: and it's a great deal worse than it was around the time of my last excision op .
How is it for others with both Eczema and Endometriosis?
