Wow! She refused to poop in her diaper all day today! She would only go on her Baby Bjorn infant potty chair! She gets soooooooo excited when she goes in it! It's so cute! She also goes crazy for the show I put on after she goes on how we say "hi" and "bye" to the "poopies" as we flush it all down the big potty! LOL! Not bad for 6-months today! Huhuuu!

Here is her potty chair. She usually goes a couple times a day in it, but today was all day! Here is what it looks like. We got it at BabiesRUs for $9.99, I think!

Enjoy your baby! It sounds like you're about to give yourself a whole load of extra work running around after her. From my child development training I remember being told that babies have no control over their bowel or bladder until they're 18 months old. Have you seen the book and video called Once Upon a Potty for either Girls or Boys? There's a "potty song" and the pictures are really cute!

that's amazing, what a clever little girl! Seriously I'd be so proud of that. She sounds like she has such a great personality already, she loves to achieve and aim higher all the time it seems! Not to sound like your mother but it sounds like you have an Ivy Leaguer there

Ouchy, how do you time when she needs to go? I'm very intrigued by this!! And of course she'll want to go on the potty instead... who wants to sit in a dirty diaper!?

Enjoy your baby! It sounds like you're about to give yourself a whole load of extra work running around after her. From my child development training I remember being told that babies have no control over their bowel or bladder until they're 18 months old. Have you seen the book and video called Once Upon a Potty for either Girls or Boys? There's a "potty song" and the pictures are really cute! Actually, She has a LOT of control over her bowels! She has waited for me to hold her almost every single time since she has been born...and she stillll goes poop about 4-10 times a day! I bought the potty chair when I *thought* she had trouble going to the potty and would only go when I pinned her legs up. I figured, if she lets me know every single time, why not plop her down on a cute potty instead of me having to pin her legs back. Not surprisingly, she likes her potty. It's easier to go when you're sitting up as opposed to lying on your back! If I'm not in the room and she has to poop, she calls me to come get her. I have never once "run after her," since the potty chair is always located on her changing table (unless we are cleaning it). She simply calls me to come get her! PD, you should read-up on "elimination communication." If you start from the beginning, it becomes second nature. It's why it is now referred to as "potty learning" instead of "potty training." Think about children in the tropics where they don't have potty chairs or potties at all for that matter. They are taught to squat. No issues there! And yah, she has tons of control over her bowels. A bit "anal retentive" until I'm there with her! Along with calling me to come get her/at least hold her, she also makes a funny sound with her nose. Her breathing changes. It's all very easy. With a kid who poops 4-10x's a day for 6 months, who wouldn't know!

It's a huge deal to make peepees and poopies in the potty! LOL!

She calls me and then we take her diaper off, sit her on her potty. It's cute. As soon as she toots/something comes out, she looks between her legs to see what came out! She smiles really big and giggles!

Wow, very impressed. How old was she when you first started putting her on the potty chair?

^I started putting her on it here-and-there at about 2 months. Once I realized she didn't have trouble pooping and was just addicted to changing table fun (see link cjlevett.proboards33.com/index.cgi?board=rant&action=display&thread=1738&page=1 ), I just kind of let it go and didn't push it much. I'd just sit her on it to see how she reacted to it. At 5 months, she really started to get in to it. I guess I've just made it part of play. If ever she cried at it or showed signs of not liking it, I've always stopped, taken her off, and waited a week or so to offer it again. ETA: But we've practiced "elimination communication" since the hospital; somehow, she's always let me know when she's had to go. Most of the times, I'd just hold her while she was standing on my stomach, and she'd go. Then, I'd change her. It has always involved communication as to when she's had to go. We're just changing the venue a bit.

Holy cow! Now she is letting me know when she has to pee! She has been in the same prefold for more than 5 hours now! I take it off, she pees, then I put the same one back on! I just ordered 2 dozen, but I dont' think I'm going to need them!

Had to change a peepee. It was my fault, though. I procrastinated bc I was trying to get her to take a nap. LOL

WOW! Now I know just whyyyyy she uses so many diapers a day! She made 12 poops today (almost a record)--all in her potty except for one (I was cooking dinner and didn't know she was awake. She usually calls for me. Maybe she did, and I just didn't hear.) And I also know how much of a super soaker she really is! I also found out why she will take a break from nursing to do what I refer to as "alligator death roll." <--It's when she pees! Poor baby! Now I feel guilty knowing each time she's done that, she's likely peed. She'll almost get to sleep then open her eyes wide, fuss, and roll away. It's when she has to pee. Awwwww. I didn't know. We took 3 potty breaks while I was nursing her to sleep! Each time, I'd just un-snappi her, let her pee, get her diaper back together and continue nursing. She went to sleep without even a whimper. All this time, it's just been bc she wanted to pee and not in her diaper. I feel rotten, but I just didn't know.
