Hi Ladies, For those of you taking oil of evening primrose daily, how long did you begin to see a result in pain reduction w/ pms/during your period? I started taking it everyday for over a month now and this past period seems a little lighter, not as terrible cramping but still could be better (took an aspirin when needed while pmsing).
I've heard it can take 2 months/cycles or as much as 6 to see the benefits of the oil of evening primrose....just wanted to confirm w/ experiences...
I also recently saw some info (not sure of its validity) that oil of evening primrose & fish oils may assist in shrinking down endo implants.
Thanks!

I didnt notice it working so much as i noticed that i was worse when i stopped taking it again. Its hard to say how long it took, but id say 2 cycles is a reasonable amount of time.
I defo had less clotting if nothing else when i used it.

Thanks kb. I should have also mentioned dosage. How much are you taking daily? I take 1,000mg (single pill) per day. Although I only have 1 cycle to speak for w/ taking the supplement, I also experienced less clots, but didn't associate it w/ the primrose oil.

I started taking this today...however I've read that it should only be taken from menstruation through ovulation because it can cause uterine contractions during pregnancy. Has anyone read anything similar? Any thoughts would be great

Hey; I take 1000mg 3 x day and have been doing so since january. February I didn't feel so good but I feel awesome now (knock on wood). I took vitex berry for 3 months 3 x day and now am down to 1 x day. I watch what I eat too and it has been years since I felt like this. I quit my shot (was supposed to get it again at the end of Feb and didn't) and so far all is ok (like I said "knock on wood") Had an ultra sound 2 months ago---everything good---and had a bone density test 1 months ago---my bones have gone from 70 year old to 50 year old. (I take liquid calcium too). So far it has seemed to help me and I count my blessings and I wish u all luck.

I came back to the board just to update and mention some good news that may help someone out with their pain... Last period was a tremendous improvement. I had been on the oil of evening primrose oil (1,000 mg softgel daily) for a little over 2 months. I was very hopeful that things would improve using it from feedback I heard from 2 diff friends with heavy periods (tho not w/ endo). I strongly believe the positive outlook helped as I kept telling myself things can get better. The first day of my last cycle was a surprise - I didn't have the heavy PMS pain I normally experienced. Plus my cycle was lighter and quicker. What a wonderful thing. I've also continued to limit the gluten (but I'm hardly perfect) and I had given up cheese & other dairy for some time but brought it back in small amts.

I am very much interested in your experience, If you could share a bit more about your experience. I have endometriosis (4 level), and Intend to stop using contraceptive tables which I use for 6 months now without a break and I do not feel that they help in fact I feel that they just might make things worst. I am particular interested in Vitex, could you tell me please how many pills you took per day? And how advanced your illness was? I have to admite I afraid to stop using pills, as my doctors are strongly against it, but as I hear so many good and wonderfull stories, I think perhaps I should try. Thank you Hey; I take 1000mg 3 x day and have been doing so since january. February I didn't feel so good but I feel awesome now (knock on wood).
